I'm planning to buy a NOS kit this spring coz my car is already in storage. I've never used a NOS, so I need to know how to use it.

Is there any advise on what and what not to do.
When use it.
And would a 75hp jet be suitable for my Tib without any engine mods.

Thanks for all the help.

get zex, so you only use it at full throttle, and you always want to starty out with a 55, then work your way up, 75hp is too much for stock internals, correct me if im wrong in any of this.

I'd recommend the Zex Kit which is very easy to use.All you do is arm thhe switch ON,then at WOT it automatically kicks in.Then when you release the gas pedal it stops.
On stock internals a 55 shot is perfect. You can get away with a 65 shot but id recommend a fuel pressure regultor if you decide to use a 65 shot.A 75 shot bother unless you upgrade Internally.Dont get me wrong your motor will take a 75 shoy, but the question is how long will your motor last on a 75 Shot.

So, let me understand this. I don't have to press any buttons and the ZEX will just kick in when the pedal is to the metal, right. So, I cant use it on 1st gear as long as it's above 3000 rpm, correct.
Well, how long does the bottle last.
What kind of mods will I need to use 65 or 75 jets?

Also, can I keep the switch off then turn it on when the throttle is wide open?

the bottle will only last about 1 second per pound of pressure you have. ex: 40 psi will lat 40 seconds, but i would recommend a NOS kit they do take some custom work, but itz worth it because i run under ten with their kits. also if you go any higher than a 75 h.p. boost i would recommend getting a purge kit so you get a clean shot of nitrous.

The ZEX kit sounds good, but you don't have control over its usage because everytime you go full throttle it shoots off, as in shifting...whereas NOS, you push the button at the moment you really need it. I am debating which to use as well. I like the idea behind the ZEX kit...but...I don't like the idea of having a 2 minute race at full throttle and nitros the whole way...that just sounds like trouble...

No...no..no..

Zex kit works with the TPS signal AND an arming switch. Both must be activated in order to shoot nitrous.

NOS kits works the same way (I know, I have a ZEX and my brother has a NOS). But, in either case, you can put a button in place of the TPS signal reading, fooling the system that full throttle is being applied.

Why you don't want to do this is because the fuel compensation is based on full throttle maps. Also, if you accidentally hit the button at say 1500 RPM, there's a good chance you'll find a con rod in your oilpan, or a pistons blown...Also, if full throttle is not applied, you'll most likely be lean....now this is what cause pistons to fly through the hood.

Both kits works the same way. Only difference is that the Zex kit has a small "computer" wich calculate the best vacuum for the FPR according to the pressure left in the bottle.

the internals will handle more than 75hp as long as there is fuel there to keep the detonation at bay...we have to remember that fuel cools the combusiton process, without it, BOOM!
I wouldn't do any more than a 65 shot of dry. If going any more than 55 dry, upgrade the fuel pump.
The last thing you want is a lean-burn condition. Pistons don't like it either.
It is safest to go with a wet kit.
Personally, I think you should just invest the time and money and install a direct port kit with a larger fuel pump.
If you have Xtra scrilla just burnin' a hole in your pocket, go with the venom kit. All computer control...SAFE!

You just been checked by the best!!

Sup Brendan?

I think what Brendan's trying to say is that knowledge is the key! Learn as much as you can about this nasty stuff that you are thinking of using, so you don't have a spectacular hood removal.

If you kow nothing about niteous and decide to see how much your car can take, you may end up using your pistons for fuel as well as the gasoline/air and cylinder walls. Then we have to measure the Brake Specific Aluminum Consumption of that combination.

Be aware of what you are doing...Knowledge is the key.
READ BRENDAN'S SITE!

with the ZEX, can't I just arm it when I'm in full throttle? Or disarm the switch anytime? I mean, even in WOT, can I cut the NOS off?

or get the ZEX kit with the msd switch

YOU can easily program it to turn on at 3000 rpm and shut off at 6500 rpm

it will not spray over 6500 or under 3000

does anyone have this switch besides me???

where do you buy the switch. Does it come with the kit? Can I get it from ZEX?

no silly,... its from MSD

you can get it at summitracing.com

i strongly urge you to do some more research. Use the search function and try to find out as much as you can. If you can install your own kit, then youll pretty much know how it works.
n2o can harm your engine if not used properly. Screw the 75 shot, and stick with a 55. Work your way up, and let your engine get usto the stress that n2o puts on it. I do suggest you do other mods first. You will get a better effect if you get a CAI, headers, exhaust, and BIM & BTB.

Jaws what all do you need for the msd switch? Do you need an aftermarket ignition? How much was the window switch and how hard was the install? What all do you need to tap into? Thanks for any help you can give me. I just got the zex kit a bottle warmer, and the plugs now I am going to install but I don't want to miss a shift and bounce off rev limiter.
