Just found this sit yesterday and I'm glad I did. I bought my 2001 accent gl about a month ago, and until now I thought I had made a big mistake. I've always seen the Hondas beeing tricked out and never a Hyundai with any real modifications. The thing is, I HATE Hondas. Anyway any tips on what I could do to my knew ride would be greatly appreciated.

the excel's from 1986 to 1994.... My experience is mostly on the engine and electrical system.....

I have no clue. I really don't want to do anything that would void the warranty, because that was the reason I bought the car. I like the rally car image, but I don't know where to go to buy that stuff or how much it would cost or anything.

How many hyundai did you have? I'm just curious if you can beat me. I had a 89,90,91,93,94 excels, 95 special edition accent, 97 accent GT, 98 accent, and 99 elantra...

I don't have a driver's license, but my dad has bought an accent, so he "gave" me the 91 excel, and now it's heading for a couple of months in my garage... which leads to the drag strip... but we had a 90 excel 4dr before the excel... my dad sold it cause it was crashed..

I have a 90 Excel gl and it was stolen awhile ago and I'm replacing the ingition lock and the starter fuses were pulled and crossed over with a bit should I invest stock relays or aftermarket instead?

Welcome to the forums. Any pics of your car? Well first off we'd go with:
1. Short Ram Intake (SRI)
2. Headers
3. Exhaust system 2.25" or just a newer muffler with a tip for sound.

Than work your way into:
4. Turbo's and the appropriate hardware for that setup (fuel management, rails, injectors etc etc)
5. Rims/ Tires (dont really need anything bigger than a 17", or else your Accent will look like a roller skate
6. Sound systems
7. Body kits (there are few, but they do look nice, better than Honda)
8. Lowering suspension/ Strut bars which gives you a better ride and handling experience
9. Extra mods such as Clear headlights/ corner lights, smoked rear lights, window tint, carbon fiber, vynal's, wings, engine/ tranny swaps (if you have the cash)

What it comes down to is:
A. What do you plan to do with the car? (keep it as daily driver, track car, strip car, rally car, show car)
B. What will void YOUR WARRANTY in this case
C. Just how deep are your pockets for cash
D. Using the search button above, will be a god send for you. This site is full of stuff, just have to search for it thats all.

well it is endless to what you can do to a car... as they find more improvements all the time. its all about money as already said. i beleive the headers, intake and muffler are the go for me... end of year im getting some 16" wheels and low profiles... then start of next year im dropping another motor into as i have lots of kms. this is y im not going hefty on the upgrades, as the new motor will be better anyways. its really up to you, just if you find something... ask people on here first for opinions. thats what we r here for. and plz dont fall for any scams..

What do u class a real modification... as we drive around with bonnets... you cant see under the hood right? so your talking about looks wise. i personally dont like all body kit business and all this kind of stuff... cos i think it makes the car look tall and skinny... which i dont like. only kits i like are the replacement ones, in which are a waste of money anyways... so id just lower mine. exterior wise some wheels make most cars instantly look sporty. 16" max in your case. then lower it and maybe a spoiler, even a bonnet scoop (not for decoration as such, but ventelation). i dont know man... depends on your wages this is just exterior... but read up for the mods that make a difference, so you can actually burn these hondas you talk off

a relay is a relay man, just check the specs to make sure they are the same as the one you took out.....or go to a scrapyard and pocket one.

And I didn't really get into to much detail, It had to be prided off (what was left of it) do you know any places that would sell a stering colume mount like that.

:EXCEL15 I have a 1996 excel and am havin a problem with it startin sometimes.Every now and again i can go somewhere in it then get in it and it wont start it will turn over do a bit of a back fire. Then if you leave it for a while and come back it will start straight away.I have had it on the computer testing and it showed up nothin. Could you help.

hey, im just new here looks like a great site, neways i recently jsut got a 95 excel sprint. just wondering what kinda basic things i can do for a bit of performance enhancing .. dont really have any ideas on prices or options, just wondering what are best kinda options goin these days
