Has anyone tried the CAI from AOS on eBay?

Yup...

I have it and it seems to work pretty good. I have noticed a difference in power, sound and gas mileage! The main reason that I got it over the Kore or the MHP is because of where I live. In Canada we get lots of weather systems, heavy rain, lots of snow... etc, and I didn't want my car sucking that stuff up. So, I got the AOS which doesn't go as low, and you don't have to do any cutting. I know you can get Bypass Valves for them, but I've seen a couple cases where they didn't work... so better safe than sorry. HOWEVER, if you don't have to worry about that sort of thing... the Kore or MHP are a bit better!

got mine from speedstate. It works really well. Sounds good too. I just don't know how much better is kore's or mhp or sr
cai's. I'm happy with it. Don't even worry about the bypass valve. you won't need it unless you're planning on using your car as an amphibian vehicle.

No complaints here. Top quality. The filter is almost as big as my head!!!
Takes about 15mins to install (about 10 to get rid of old crap and remove battery).

There are pros and cons. Since it isn't in the fender it gets hotter air than kore or mhp. I bettered this by cutting a hole in the plastic shroud thing at the bottom so it can suck directly from the cone. However, it has less bends than kore or mhp which is better.

Someday this site will post dynos of all of them .

I have it as well. no complaints except the bracket holding it to the frame broke a couple of times.
If you want more air to come up from under the car cut some of the plastic out under neath and/ or place the old air scoop(little vented plastic) from where the air use to go in
and screw it in under neath so it vents air up towards the filter.
OR,.. go to the hardware stores plumbing or ventilation department adn get some curved pipe ,.. ya know, the piece that plumbing bend like a joint. Use your imagination,.. a sharp cutting tool and some screws. Get a little fancy and paint the piece.!<img Take off inwinter of course.!!src=/images/forums/snitz/wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

take offf in winter of course, put on in summer.
Just place your filter on the MAF sensor housing in the winter as well. Use another clamp top hold it up near the filter. Who is going to see your engine in winter?

that's a good point regarding climate.. i'm considering getting the aos cai but i also live in canada.. is winter really a concern, even with the bypass valve? is it worth it/necessary to remove during winter?
toronto's winters are of course not as harsh as they get elsewhere in the great white north..

Hey,

I have my AOS CAI still installed, and it's halfway through the winter. I also live in Nova Scotia, and I'd tend to think we get hit harder than you guys in TO. Everything still seems to be fine with it, haven't had any problems with it sucking up stuff... knock on wood. With my experiences it should be fine in the winter.

BTW, we've had a couple of big storms... so I'd say it's passed the test.

thanks guys,
i'll probably go with the bypass valve just to be safe.
our winters aren't as harsh but i actually live just outside of TO and we get lots of lake effect snow. i do sometimes find myself plowing.
of course, if it gets REALLY bad, i could just have the mayor call in the army again to clear me a path..
