Aight Freddy here is a basic run down of everything you need to Turbo your car.

Turbo manifold (1g or 2g turbo manifold from an Eclipse, Talon, or Laser)
The Turbo (14b, T25, 16g, etc...)
Intercooler (i went with a 2g eclipse sidemount)
Intercooler piping(I custom made all of mine)
BOV( the one in the pics is from a 3000gt but i now have a 1g BOV on it, the 1g is the best to go with)
Downpipe(this is going to have to be custom made. I made mine also)
Fuel Mangement(most people who go from N/A to Turbo use the Vortech FMU which when boost is detected it increases the fuel pressure, I went with the Vortech SFMU more expensive unit but you can adjust the static pressure as well as boost pressure. Here is Vortechs website: www.vortechsuperchargers.com look under the accesories and then under fuel)
Boost Controller(I am using an Turbo XS standard boost controller which is manual, but you can use any boost controller whether it is electronic or manual. You also don't really need this if you don't plan on running any higher boost than what the Internal wastegate on the turbo is set at which in most cases on Mitsu Turbo's is 8psi)
Gauges(boost gauge, EGT. So you can see what is going on with the car)
Turbo Timer(so you extend the life of your turbo)
and that is about it, the project is easy but you have to have some good mechanic skills and under stand all the vacum lines and where they need to go, but I can help you out in that department also if needed I can post a Diagram on how the Vacum lines should be hooked up and exactly where they need to come off of on the Intake manifold.

I had fun doing mine but there were alot of headaches also involed with it as well. so hopefully if anyone is considering doing this to their Elantra's, Sonata's I can eliminate any headaches for you before the happen.

HAPPY BOOSTING <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

theres a older 93 elantra here that's pushing 20 psi and is chewing talons and stangs nightly, it's a white elantra with a huge gt wing. Also it ran a 13.1 but I think it's faster if he gets slicks.

Do you know if he swapped the motor out with a TEL motor or is it the stock?

A Turbo is a Turbo, what kills the life of the Turbo is how hard you run it and whether or not you are Turbo Timing it.

The kit just comes with everything to bolt up, where on the custom like it say's it's custom. you or someone else makes it.

Hope I answered your questions. As far as VegaBass I will be putting an Article together on the Turboing and the 5 Speed Conversion on my car together soon. I need to talk to rob about posting a copy of it on the main site and there will be a copy of it on my site as well. So look for that post that it is complete soon.

I spent under 1K putting everything together, But where I saved money is I did all the work.

I have been playing with the Idea of putting a Turbo kit together but at this time I wouldn't be able to tell anyone what the price on the kit would be. Also I don't know how many people would actually buy one if I was to put them together, the only other thing is if I was to put a Kit together it would only be for Old School Elantra's at first.

<b>PLEASE REMEMBER</b>

The reason why Hyundai4G63T was able to use an Eclipse/Talon exhaust manifold is because there is still a Mitsu motor in the earlier versons of the Elantra and Sonata. If your Elantra or Tiburon is a 1996 model or later, you cannot go this route. The Eclipse/Talon exhaust manifold doesn't match up to the BETA cylinder head (BETA = Hyundai's own block, not Mitsu, used in 1996 and later 1.8L and 2.0L Elantras and Tiburons)

I only point this out because I saw someone with a 2K Tib asking...

Carry on :D

In my opinion the custom system is the way to go, they look and function better than most kits that you buy.

This is a shop that I visited back in 99 in texas take a look at their custom setups and you tell me what you think. http://members.aol.com/xlturbos/

but still people make custom turbos.....what i'm asking is....is it reliable and worth doing? cuz i'm bout to buy Alpine's turbo soon<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=1 id=quote>

If you have the know how, or know someone who is willing to help you build your own custom system, it would be better in the end.

If you want as close to a "Bolt on" experience as you can get with a turbo..then the alpine is the way to go.

It is a matter of what you are after.<img src=icon_smile_clown.gif border=0 align=middle>
