anywhere from $500 to $1500...the cheapest way is to find a doner car from a wreckers and have it towed to the shop so they have all the parts nesesary and tamplates for the clutch pedel

good luck

the easiest and coolest in my opinion is to put a Hurst shifter in the place of your original A/T shifter assembly. They cost below a hundred bucks in some cases. This will only work if your tranny lets you go from one through four individually. some cars only allow you to downshift from Drive to low pos though. I think accents have first pos. as 1-2 and then drive. might be worth checking out before you try to stick a manual in there though.
Confused

haha yeah... i love my car but i hhaattteee a.t now i want manual trans. so the kid above had a pretty good idea.. go to a junk yard and pick up what i can get to switch to manual.. ya know.. but i love car and i dont wanna sell it, just to get manual. i don't kno wwhat im gonna do yet..

Good idea, but we can only go 1-2-Drive.
I am doing that swap right now, along with alot of other upgrades. i picked up a donner car after Katrina hit for free(lucky me).

I can tell you the best way to go, is to get a donner car. Trust me. With out one, it will cost alot in misc. parts and time, as you discover all the parts that you didn't consider in the begining.

Also, you should know that it is alot of work, so be perpared.
darn that sucks you cant put a Hurst shifter in there. Their great for drag racing... Too bad more car makers don't put a 1-4 pattern in there tranny's. Well good luck and git er' done good :)

KID eh!
I have control of all 4 gears in my Accent. 1, 2, drive, and OD (its a little button). Does Hurst make 3 speed OD shifters?
actually I think they do... as far as the overdrive they make a shift knob which has a button on the side to activate an overdrive, transbrake or whatever you want to use it for. So you could always hook the linkage up for the D, 1 and 2 positions and use that knob for the OD
Even if they only make it in four speed you could probably hook it up so it only goes through three positions
hey just checked for you. Yes B&M makes one called the quick silver its a universal for three or four speed tranny
