The streets were soooo quiet this morning...New Years day and all.
So I'm having a little drive on Herndon Ave, sort of a throughfare
posted at 50 mph with regular stop-lights every 1/2 mile. Its just me and this white full-size sedan coming up to the stops. He would accelerate pretty hard away from every green, pull ahead of me several cars lengths only to have me casually pull up along side again at the next red. This went on for four or five lights. I had noticed, after the last time he pulled away, that it was an Toyota Avalon...probably 2000. I pulled up next to him again and waited for the green. I could see his car rolling and lurching slightly anticipating the signal change. He glanced my way as I slipped the clutch and goosed it to 6300 (no rev-limiter bounce thank god!) and shifted to 2nd. He stomped on it, but couldn't close the 1/2 car length advantage I had.
We fought it out that way right up to the next red light...where he shot into the left turn lane and disappeared. I killed him by a nose, but I'll take it. I looked up a road-test for the Avalon when I got home, out of curiosity....Consumer Guide got an
8.3 0-60 out of em.

Yeah, Wytchdctr, but I'll do a lil research and find out what the Avalon can do in the 1/4 mile. You do about 17 flat if memory serves?
That might be your best bet if you ever came up against one.

Forget the Avalon match-race WytchDctr...unless you've got some
mods on the cooker. 16.1 in the
1/4 mile Better let the 5spd
Tibs and Elantras deal with em...
which may turn out to be a dog-fight.

Thats close enough that if i race a total fcvktard i can win.. If he spinns tires hard off the line and speed shifts through the gears (aka shifting way to eaily) i can take one And to be honest there are a lot of fvcktards out there that don't know how to race. I want to see what the pros can do with mine before i really start comparing 1/4mile times.. Im thinking it can get into the high 16's.. i got a lil more wheel spin than i would normally like to have at the track. I wasn't familier with the surface of a race track... and got more spin than slip. (P.s. worst run was a 17.6, hit the water box with left tire and didn't know it, slide the nose alil it spun so hard. So a bad start can be the diff between a win and a lose.. 1sec can be lost with a fvckup)

Too true. Wheel spin and sloppy shifting can lose any advantage
you may have had...I got the jump on a New Beetle Turbo the other day, I think he panicked and fvcked up his shift from 1st to 2nd...he should have had me clean.
