First Off.. Thanks Chuck for the Great Service!!!

Hey all.. I got my B&M Short shifter in last week, and I took the time to install it.. Honestly.. I could have done it with 1 hand tied behind my back.. The hardest part of doing this was remembering which order the spacers and springs go back on the new shifter. But let me tell you.. It is TERRIFIC!
Feels like a TOTALLY different car. Almost feel like a RWD car now.. NICE and stable.. I feel as though I can pull the hell out of it.. :):)

I would say the front to back is about a 35-40% shorter throw, and the side to side is about 30-35%.

For those of you guys that are on the fence, Go to Chuck from RC Performance and get that bad boy.. :):)

REALLY friendly guy..

REALLY worth the 135 bucks!

I have the SR shortie right now and am sitting on the fence whether to upgrade to the B&M or not... I heard that it sits taller but the throws are shorter...

Has anyone switched?

I don't remember if it was here or another site, but one guy switched from thr SR short shifter to the B&M short shifter. He said that both where good, but the B&M felt more solid and the throw was shorter and well worth the money.

hope this helps.

Reid switched from sr to bm. he said that the bm is more solid and shorter throw. It's a little tall like the stock, but I'm planning on cutting it down. just waiting for a warmer weather.

Actually, the B&M is setting lower than I had my SR. I don't like the shifter really low, but it cuts about an inch and a half to two inches off the height of the stock shifter. One thing to keep in mind is that the shorter the shifter (height wise) the harder it is going to be to shift because you are reducing the amount of leverage you have.

If you pop your cup holder out, and put the car in first gear, the shifter ball is just slightly higher than the top of the cup holder with the B&M if that helps with visualizing the height of it. It's definitely shorter than stock, but it's not height adjustable like the SR is.

from rc performance(877-4rc-fast) is the #. I got mine from them. really cool people to talk to. when u order make sure u look at your shifter base plate first. if it's is black order the one for '97-00. if it's white order the one for '01-up.

Reid correct me if I'm worng with the #'s and the parts. thanks

I have one, 2000 Tib, and I got it at a local performance parts shop...basically anyone that deals B&M products will be able to get one for you...and if it is not in their catalogue, have them call B&M and order one for you...I did that, and it cost me $135.

I e-mailed RC Performance Products (-877-4RC-FAST) was told:
"The price is 119.95 + 9.00 S.H.
128.95 total.
If you live in the state of Ohio
the price is 119.95 + 7.80 in tax + S.H. 9.00=
$136.75 to your door.
There is NO cutting or any type of alterations
needed to install this shifter.
This is by-far one of the best shifters available.

hey guys. could someone help me out. if i think there's two much play in my shifter, how would i go about tightening it up. making it feel more solid. not as "sloppy" as one of you put it. i am planning to get the B&M shifter, and you all said it stiffens the throws up, but is there any adjustments i can make in the shifter box to supplement that effect? thanks

About the only thing you can do is tighten the bolts for the factory shifter. Once you see the B&M compared to the factory shifter, you'll see why the factory one feels sloppy in comparison (on the 97-2001 Tiburon).

Not much you can do to stock. I've never had a soft or "sloppy" feeling to my shifter. Then again it is the first stick I've driven. The new Tib GT I drove had the short shifter in it Just get the shorty, you won't regret it.

guys, I have a B&M and eventhough I cut out about 2" of it. It not harder to shift. It's actually easier. the hardest part was shaving the ball down im the middle of the shifter. After shaving it and fitting an SR knob, I don't even have to move my arm the shift. Just flick my wrist and I'm gear happy. It feels more solid now than when I first got it. I can even open up my cup holder and it doesn't get on the way. LOve it.

Those of you guys that are getting this shifter, take my word for it...cut it down. you'll love it. Just flick your wrist.
