It looked like one of the newer Jettas. He pulled up along side of me on the freeway doing about 65. Then he taps the gas pedal a couple of times. I down shifted into fourth while wife screamed "WTF are you doing! " Guy in the Jetta mashed off as well. His flashers were blinding to my eyes. Or maybe the sting of tears as I suffered yet another loss.

But I'm still game. So now I'm chasing the Jetta but not doing to good at it. Gas pedal was pinned to the floor. All of a sudden I noticed a car behind me swerving through traffic getting closer and closer. Before I was able to figure out what kind of car it was, the newer white Toyota Corolla blew by me too. And I was still floorin it to catch the Jetta!

It was bad enough to take the loss but now my ears were bleeding from wife yelling into then. And she wasn't just complaining cuz I was racing, she was calling me looser too! Man, what a bad night. I think I'll change my nickname to 1SlowButInMyOpinionCoolLookingGS

Also could do with the amount of weight in the car? 2 or more people could normally be bad in your car if your racing. Or very over weight people. And noone can tell me Im wrong!! No matter how many people I have in my car. it always feels like it drags more.

Ok,
1. Im calling your a bum because you raced with another person in your car?! even your wife!? Cmon man. what if something happened and your tire blew? and your went outta control and so on. Are you willing to take that kind of responsiblity? Thats why I race BY MY SELF. I couldn't bare the thought of something happening while Im hitting 130+ then all the sudden BAM and we flip over and someone dies in my car and Im not dead. I couldn't live with that man. Sorry those stories about people dying because of a stupid race is just retarded. Its just like driving when drunk. Sorry just wanted to state my opinion.
2. Sorry about your losses but Wytchdoctor is right, you need to learn how to time your gears better and learn how to down shift to around 6k to 6500 rpms to catch up to someone, I use this method when IM driving alone and looking for a race. 1-2-3 in the streets so that Im at a higher RPMS the higher rpms you are at the more power you can get outta yer motor, Dont look for arace when your in 5th gear hitting 65 man. Thats crazy! When Im looking for a race on the freeway I stay in 4th consintaly reading my rpms at around 4000 rpms Im doing around 80 or something in 4th, if someone comes up to me and starts screwing off like a signal to race I slam it down to 3rd then Im around 6000 or so rpms and climbing like a crazy motherfvcker, Keep in mind I have my petal the to floor. then slam it into 4th, You gotta be quick about it too. I can get around to 115-120 in 4th gear, if they are STILL chacing me I make the long trip to 5th, but the key is with manuals you gotta SQUEEZE every once of power outta the gears. Thats why I love my tach cuz I can see where I am around 6500 I change them, then bam in 5th and pulling like crazy again. I use my 5th gear as a attack gear, For some reason I can get alot of power outta it. I also get tons of power outta my 4th. So usally when people race me they give up when Im in my high 4th or low 5s cuz Im around 120-130 by then. They just pussy out. You just need to work on your driving skillz man, Your car isnt slow. Its just the way you use the stick that kinda stinks. Just give it time, your learn. BTW this isnt raggin on you man, Just tought you could do better! Hey its all in love. I just wanna help.

True it is bad to race with other people in the car because they could get hurt. not to mention that they could actually screw you up. Ive been in bad blizzards and had someone grab my steering wheel while I was going over a patch of ice. Not to mention a second person just adds more weight.

Hell, my girlfriend tells me to race. We were up to 130mph in my old Prelude one time and she was like "Come on you can go faster"<img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

On the way to NOPI this 96-98 Civic EX cut me off so I got into the right lane and passed him, he gave me the finger so I decided to CRUSH him up to atleast 120mph. I looked down and the speedo was above 110 while I was slowing back down so I wouldn't pass the lead car on the tour.
