Well christmas is approaching and im looking to do alittle work on my new 2001 tiburon. Unfortunately, my parents wouldnt let me get the manuel so im stuck with an auto(i think the auto is real good though). But anywayz, im looking for a mod around 200 bucks. Ive been looking at cold air intakes and i get conflicting reports on those. I read you can get around 30hp with a good CAI with good filter, and ive read its only 5hp max. The SR big bore throttle interests me too, as well as a catback system. Anywayz what do you guys think it best? Thanks for the input
~Nick

I'd go for a CAI or some Strut bars (front and rear)

Some type-R stickers... they give you at least 10hp.

Intake or strut bars.

If you've read anywhere about getting 30HP from a CAI, it's either lies (likely if a Honda board said it), or it's on a chevy big block V8 or something that's already pushing out 400HP with a restrictive filter.

On a 4 cyl., 2.0L engine, a CAI will give you 5-10HP, this has been dyno proven.

I would buy the CAI first, then proceed to Throttle body, etc., in the future when you have more cash.

I'm with Jonas. Most other mods like cam, header, exhaust are in the 100's.
The cai is the cheapest and easiest to install.
You will FEEL and HEAR a difference.

I would go with a CAI or a rear swaybar.

If you could swing $300, go for eibach springs (including install).

Would a CAI on a 2001 tibby void the warranty

It would void the warranty on the intake system, and in theory, on the emissions systems as well. It all depends on how cool your dealer is.

Ask your dealer about it. If he's a dick, just put the stock intake back in before taking it in for service.

For headers, www.hve.com.au or www.sharkracing.com

For cams, check www.hve.com.au, www.rpw.com.au, www.hdkautosport.com, or www.jrponline.com

I would reccomend that you get your Intake Manifold bored and gasket matched by Onpol in addition to your Bored Throttle Body.

The altezza tail lights add quite a bit of power, or honda owners really think so... I would like add that there (to my knowledge) no way to tell how much power a CAI will really provide, I highly doubt 30hp, but I have heard 15 out of Kore's (a bit optimisitc I would think), the more air the more power, a car sitting still on a dyno cant get enough air inorder to truely tell how much power you are really getting. I would say the most cost effective mod would be nitrous, but thats cheating... plus it's over 200 bucks...

I bought that new elantra GT intake cam and got it shipped to me for $128 and installed it myself for free!! I've had it my Tib for 600miles with no problems whatsoever. I would recommend this as it will make other mods perform better. I noticed that the cam doesn't give you too much bottom, but power is noticeable after 4000rpm..according to but-o-meter

I'd go with a broadway mirror, a My Shaldan air freshener, and then maybe an intake.

I got a new air filter (CAI) and a cannon style muffler, for my first performance mods. They both helped improve my horsepower and they sound pretty good. Also my dealership said that neither would void my warranty.
