Was driving to work tonight around 9:15 pm doin about 80 in the far left lane. Some guy pulls up behind me and starts tail gating me big time So I slow down a bit just to piss him off. Then he high beams me a couple of times F**KIN flamein now, I hit the break and slow down to about 65 All of a sudden I see these F**KIN RED AND BLUE LIGHTS shining in my rear view mirror

Usually, I'm pretty good about spotting Rollers, but with the rear spoiler on my car, I can't see jack! The 5 percent tint didn't help much either. Man, my heart started beating. Couldn't use my blinker to pull over cause I have blue bulbs. So I switch lanes without it. Only, thats illegal too! I'm thinking hes gonna nab me for road rage, speeding, wreckless driving, and switching lanes without signaling. Once he pulls me over, he'll also give me a fix-it ticket for the blue blinker bulbs, the 20% driver/pasenger tint, and no front license plate.

So I pull one lane over but he doesn't follow He gets along side of me dogs me shakes his head and mashes off Aw, man! Had to check my shorts when I got to work. My new philosophy in life: "Save it for the Track!"

maybe next time you won't be such an a-hole and you'll just move out of the way of faster traffic.

Consider your experience as your lesson. Slower traffic keep right, no matter what speed you are going. If they want to pass...LET THEM!

Leave it to Random to Needlessly complicate things.

F*uck that! There was plenty of room for him to pass me. He didn't have to get all up on my s*hit like that. He was just being a dick, like I was.

haha sucker :)

Now what you should have done, was got behind him and started flashing your high beams, and signal him to pull over, and then put him under citezens arrest, hehe, I wonder how that would have gone over

Also, when I drive , I don't expect anyone to get out of my way. I have no right to impose myself on anybody and they have the right to go as fast or slow as they want. I am polite and don't tailgate people - just wastes your time ! It's quicker and more fun just to go around them all!

I agree with Random, if you slowed down in the left lane just to piss him off then you are being an asshole. Shoulda pulled over and let him past in the first place. Drivers like you should be shot.

No Phuck you. You were the dick, not him.

In all 50 states it is ILLEGAL TO PASS ON THE RIGHT. It is your job as slower traffic to keep left. In some states it Is illegal to ALLOW yourself to be passed on the right, and YOU will get the ticket if the other car goes around you.

The law states slower traffic keep left. Period.

Not, Slower traffic keep left unless you are already speeding.

You were wrong.
100% wrong in letting him tailgate you and not moving over.
100% wrong for not moving over if "there was plenty of room"
100% wrong for slowing down when someone behind you wanted to go faster
100% wrong for slowing down when someone behind you wanted to go faster and there was plenty of room for you to move over and allow them to pass you.

You were a dick, if I was that cop, i would have pulled your punk ass over and written you up for everything in the book and made up some just cuz you were an ass.

It is people like you that cause slow traffic on our freeways. Traffic can only move as fast as the asshole in front who won't move over to let people pass him. It doesn't matter if you were doing 80, 800 or 8 mph. You were a dick.

uh...I'll take that as your lamed assed form of a retort. When you know you are wrong, insult the other person.

Is it so hard for you to admit you were wrong. Such a sad sad little man you must be. Rather than just allow someone to pass you, you slow down and **** with the other guy. Gee...you da man, a sad sad little man.

"Getting balls" as you put it gets people killed on the road. The cop was trying to not break the law by passing you on the right.

Rules of the Road
Road Rage.
It's becoming more and more common on the highways of America. Almost at epidemic proportions. There are reports on the nightly news of people being shot, drivers fighting, cars being vandalized and so forth because of traffic incidents. And if it isn't on the news, then we are seeing it, or feeling it for ourselves, as we drive down the streets of our own cities. It is not always as extreme as those cases we hear about on the news, but it is happening every day.
It is even occurring in the smaller cities of our great nation, even those we think to be quiet and serene. I was amazed when I read of an incident of "Road Rage" while at my in-laws home in Lexington, VA. Lexington is a small community (pop. 10k something) to the northwest of Roanoke (pop. 100k something), where their daily paper originates. All in all, it is a sparsely populated region in Central Southwestern Virginia, where most people are quite nice and easy going.

The Roanoke Times (04/28/97) ran a story of a young woman who was driving down the interstate when another driver came up behind her, flashing his lights - indicating his desire for her to move over. She claimed that the roads were too crowded, and even if she did move over, he would only be behind another car going her same speed. She decided to stay in the right lane, and by tapping her brakes, caused him to back off. Shortly thereafter, the man in the following car switched lanes and was able to move ahead of her. This time, he put on his brakes and forced her to the shoulder of the road. The man then left his vehicle, walked back to her car, pulled her out, and attempted to throw her into the traffic that was passing. She was only saved by a third driver, who saw what was happening, stopped, and convinced the man that he was acting stupid.

I was absolutely shocked when I read the story. It is something you would expect to read in the Washington Post, or the Miami Herald, or even the Orlando Sentinel, but not the Roanoke Times. And it all boils down to one thing - discourtesy. Plain and simple. Discourtesy lies somewhere in-between incompetence and ignorance, and produces the reaction in some drivers we now know as "Road Rage".

Too many people forget that driving in America is a privilege not a right. It is a privilege each citizen can enjoy, but one that also comes with an obligation to do so safely. If that obligation is not met, the privilege can be taken away. The government can suspend or revoke a license, depending on the circumstances. What will help is if everyone obeys the "unwritten rules of the road".

Driving Etiquette
Here are some simple Rules of the Road to remember the next time you go out:

When driving, pay attention to the task at hand
Do not stay in the left lane if you are going slower than the traffic to your right
If you are not passing another car, remain in the right lane(s)
If a car is approaching from the rear, flashing its lights, move over as soon as you are able
Do not tailgate, leave a "2 second" space between you and the car ahead of you
Do not slam on your brakes if a car is tailgating you
Do not ride your brakes
Do not change lanes if there is a car in the lane you want to move into going faster than you
Be courtious to others, if you can't make a move without obstructing others on the road don't do it
Check around your car when changing lanes in order to do so safely
When entering an interstate, speed up to match the speed of the oncoming traffic before trying to merge
When leaving an interstate, slow down only when you are totally in the deceleration lane
When moving into a turn lane, wait until you are in the lane to brake
When driving behind someone make sure your high beams are off
Green means GO
Red means STOP
Blue means MOVE TO THE RIGHT (and if it follows you, it means you're screwed)
Use your blinker to signal a lane change, or a turn
Do not forget to turn off your blinker
When encountering a funeral procession, pull over to show respect for the deceased (unless you know the SOB, that is)
And finally for all you tourists out there in happy-go-lucky land, plan your trip before you leave home so you know where you are going
Remember, you do not have to obey the rules of the road, but if you don't, you may end up paying the price. Try and do the best you can. It will make your life, and life of those driving around you, alot easier. And besides, in this day and age, it may even save your life.

I agree, How long have you been driving bro? Next time Im sure you won't do it that to someone else. He might just be a mean cop. You really got lucky, If you were in NV vegas and you did that to a cop they would cuff you and impound your car. They are EXTREMLY scrict down here and they have zero tolerance for assholes who like to show off, Hod rod, or piss of a cop that has had a very bad day, keep that in mind boss.

I can't believe how many p*ussies there are up in here. Where I'm from, someone pulls up on you like that, they're trying to provoke a reaction from you; be it for racing, cuz they got beef, or cuz they're a*ssholes. I'm going with "cop being an a*sshole".

Proper driving etiquette is a two way street. The act of tailgating is an act of aggression all in its self. If someone gets aggressive with you (on the road, in a dark alley, at a night club), you're telling me you'd bow your head then run and hide? I don't think so. I've seen too much drama to let that s*hit ride. Sometimes, you gotta let your nutz hang.

Man, you guys are a tuff crowd. The point of the story wasn't "he's an a*sshole, I'm an a*sshole". Though I am and asshole sometimes, but aren't we all? The point of the story was: I've seen the light! I don't ever want to get a ticket! I'm driving cool from now on! There will be absolutely no need for someone to tailgate me cause I'm driving 65 in the far right lane like the rest of us sissies here on the board!

One good thing did come out of this story. I was getting tired of the "my Honda is better than your Hyundai". At least now we have something else to talk about
