I recently bought an Elantra GT and want to build a new system. I don't have very much money up front so am buidling piece by piece. I'm keeping the deck for a while cuz it's not terrible, I was told to buy an MTX 4202 amp and was going to get a couple of Kenwood 10" just for starters. (I actually kind of like the front speakers it has but the rears gotta go, blech!) What do YOU think? Now keep in mind, I want to be obnoxious without getting my car stolen, AND I don't have much to spend. Any advice would be great.

THis is what I did. Bought a pioneer 7300 kick ass deck (not a premiere but better than 99.5% of other peoples decks) off Ubid $200 (try etronics too). Next buy a couple s250.0 lightning audio amp. Bridge one mono and and get the power cell for it .5 farad cap to keep the lights from dimming when you have 500+ watts for stereo. Buy a 4 gauge minimum set up for amp wiring. Off Ubid or ebay awsome deals. Mor eto come I have to get back to work.

i HATE anything not top of the line, so i cant help u much. I do know that anything MTX isnt good, nor r kenwood speakers. Lightning audio isnt very good either, if u want an amp for just bass, go with something thats a mono amp. preferably something with 500+ watts, & just turn the gain down so u dont blow whatever speakers u buy. For the price i would go with 2 12" JL audio w0s, really good sound, kinda loud, about $120 a sub. If thats too steep for the $$ bracket ur lookin to spend, i dont know what to tell u. Just PLEASE PLEASE dont get any pioneer subs, or speakers of any sort, they sound like garbage & piss people with real systems off.

I find it hillarious that all my friends that buy stuff for their honda tell me to take their advice on performance parts, cause they know what theyre doing. All i can ever think is, U DRIVE A HONDA!!!!

Actually lets clarify: Lightning audio makes the best connectors on the market, as well as the best capacitors, Rockford fosgate their now crappy parents company makes knockoff connectors and caps, their amps and subs are highly overrated, they are ok but nothing special. The new lightning audio strike amps are the best deal you can get but hard to find. Fortunatley the older strikes which are not as high a quality as the new ones can be had on ubid cheaply. Stay away from all the crappy low end amps that everyone recogmends on places like sounddomain they are very ineficiant and don't put out rated power or near. The ones that do murder your battery and alternator. As far as pioneer goes anything primere is good and their higher end speakers work just fine. If you have the money the cheapest mass consumer stuff I would bye would be infinity, some polk junk is ok too( don't mean to dis polk just too many polk fans talking it up, it's good consumer high end, but nothing close to image dynamics or focal which aren't even really considered audiophile) Good deals can be found on ebay for infinity they are effecient enough to be run without seperate amps but wont shine until a decent seperate amp is added. My 2 cents. Fee free to shoot any questions you have my way I realize everyone has a budget and I am familiar with all consumer type stereo equip.

I'd take MonsterCable over Lightning Audio, anyday. All MonsterCable makes is cable, caps, and power stabilizers. Ask any Home Theater installer what they use, either Kimber-Kable or MonsterCable.
