When I take my oil cap off of my excel's 1.5, I get a lot of air/vapors blowing out at me and the engine idles down a bit... Is this a normal thing with these engines, or is 133,000 miles too much for my four popper?

well I have 115,000 and the thing run's great! But as I told you earlier about that. I think all it is, is the engines moving parts on the inside. I don't advise taking an oil cap off when the engine is running. If you had a leak in the engine somewhere you would have oil seping out of the crack. So check the engine around.

Gidday,

Your 133000 miles equates to 214043 kilometres so I would suggest that your engine is a wee bit worn. Mine has done 151000 kilometers and I am starting to think it is time to consider having it checked out. Having said that do you have smoke (blue) coming out of the exhaust pipe? Is the oil real black...any unusual noises? It may only be the rubbers on the valves have worn/broken and are allowing oil/fumes past them. This is assuming there are no broken piston rings etc. I suggest you take it down to your local garage and ask them if they can enlighten you as to the problem. Tell them that you know they are really good at their job and you need to find out if there is a problem and they may go out of their way to check it all over so you know for shore what the problem is. If you need a new motor and they take the head off the engine that you have please measure the valve diameters for me as I am trying to obtain these measurements from anyone who happens to access this area..on the 1.5 12v; 1.5 16v; 1.8, and 2.0 litre.
Thank you

Thats a good idea.. I'm probably going to get new valve seals (cheap) and if that doesn't clear up the problem, i'll look into a ring/cylinder wall problem.
