How hard would it be to take out all the green bulbs from the dash and put in blue bulbs that match the gauges on my GT? I guess the clock is staying green, but I plan to buy a stereo that lights up blue.

Well, actually I am annoyed by that. And actually I had a post about it a while ago. Here it is.http://www.hyundaiperformance.com/forums/snitz/topic.asp?a=&t=3461
Looks like noone figured out the way how to do that. I know that some people changed the LEDs under the power windows switch so they light up blue. Looks really nice. I am gonna do that too. Also one person managed to change the LEDs behind the AC and recirculation buttons. But they light up blue only when turned on.
I just hope someone will do this mod and let others know how to do that. I wanna get a Pioneer CD player with blue EL display. It will look tight with a blue instrument panel.

Blue GT, how hard was it for you to do the Blue LED for the power window switch? Also, is there a link to where I can find out how to do this?

How did those people change the power window switch lights? I just took mine out and they are, suprisingly to me, not LEDs. They are these tiny green bulbs and I have put a couple of coats of blue glass paint from a hobby store on so they appear blue, but when I turn the lights on, they are still lighting up green. I'm gonna keep putting on coats throughout the night in hopes it will finally light up blue, but if someone has done this before, what did you do to have the switches illuminate blue? Is there an easier way? I did a search on all the major hyundai boards already and am surprised this hasn't been brought up more. It's a really inexpensive mod that can really make our cars look sweet so any more info on the subject would be greatly appreciated! :rambo:

The VDO guages on the GT model are off the hook... I'm hating on them big time....
It seems that only US spec version GLS's were short changed.

I have looked into converting the GLS guage cluster to the GT version and have been unsuccessfull... Hyundai Motor America have not been able to give me a straight answer.
The diagrams illustrated in the '01+ Elantra electrical manual are vague. The technicians have donated there manuals to me and wished me good luck....

The GLS guage cluster has multiple harnesses behind it were as the GT has one.
I would assume that if you could replace the wire harness off the ECU to the guage cluster , problem would be resolved....
Problem here is that hyundai doesn't have a part # for this harness.... :puzzled:

However, I do own two sets of the VDO gauges off a Canadian spec GLS (they also share VDO guages - bastards).... If someone can successfully figure out how to convert this over, my secound VDO guage cluster is yours... :):):):)

The other alternative is , creating your own harness and tediously figuring out what each port does. Diagrams are available for this.....
