The VDO guages on the GT model are off the hook... I'm hating on them big time....
It seems that only US spec version GLS's were short changed.
I have looked into converting the GLS guage cluster to the GT version and have been unsuccessfull... Hyundai Motor America have not been able to give me a straight answer.
The diagrams illustrated in the '01+ Elantra electrical manual are vague. The technicians have donated there manuals to me and wished me good luck....
The GLS guage cluster has multiple harnesses behind it were as the GT has one.
I would assume that if you could replace the wire harness off the ECU to the guage cluster , problem would be resolved....
Problem here is that hyundai doesn't have a part # for this harness....

However, I do own two sets of the VDO gauges off a Canadian spec GLS (they also share VDO guages - bastards).... If someone can successfully figure out how to convert this over, my secound VDO guage cluster is yours...



The other alternative is , creating your own harness and tediously figuring out what each port does. Diagrams are available for this.....
