I have now around 330 miles on my GT. The brakes in the morning, squel like crazy the first 2 presses of the pedal, I dont know why but they do??? Also the pedal feels like it has a skip, or when you push it , it feels like a small drop the first couple of times. Does anyone else experience the same thing? Should I take it to the dealer?

It is probably a small layer of rust on the rotors. Believe it or not because the break rotors have clean pure metal exposed they start to rust whenever the car sits for a few hours or more. Overnight any dew or condensation causes rust too. The initial squeel I feel is normal. SHouldn't be there everyday but alot when you first start up the car and drive in the morning.

Ok, this morning again, when I depress the brake pedal firs thing in the morning, it feels like a big click, not like a brake switch, if you pump up the brakes it goes away, and then as you drive, and then press them again you can feel it, it is very annoying, I'm wondering it is the ABS or the Master Cyl.????? Please try and let me know.

Well I just took my car to the dealer, and they felt it, they claim it could be air in the lines. I may agree, but hope its not the master cycl. or abs to keep me away from my car.

Well now the car has 582 miles on it, and I have located the catch or clicking of the brake pedal, it is coming from the booter or the master cylinder. the dealership drove it 20 miles and could not find it. Got it back and it did it right away. Their salesmanager felt it, but they did not. This is the second time they have it. let's see now. Also about my leak, it was a kincked transaxle seal, on the right side from the factory. I am at a point to get my money back!!!!! This is nuts....

Hey Mac,
Sorry about your experience, that sucks. Whenever I hear about peeps having problems with their new Elantras it makes me a bit nervous.
I've got 9,000 miles on my GLS. Nothing bad to report so far, and I know I'm not alone. I have noticed that 80% of the minor complaints regarding Elantra on this board are with the GT..I have no clue why. Either that, or the GLS drivers aren't saying anything. Some new cars have a bug or two in em, then once those things are addressed they're fine. Try and stay positive, hopefully you'll be smiling again in week or two. Good luck.

the stitching on my passenger side headrest unraveled! To it in and they fixed it. I also found out also that the OEM spoiler for the GT is $225. I dont need bad enough to buy it. Bought a cap, though. Hyundai pride!

ANYone having problems with 5Spd, not going into 2nd too easily, that is the only gear with trouble.
