So... can you put the 1.8 cam on the 2001-2002 Elantra 2.0, or is this just a 99-00 thing? I am new at this Hyundai stuff so any help would be appreciated.

You can but it isn't good for the 2001 models, the head was changed in late 2000 for the 2001 models, they use a better cam than the 1.8, what it needs is the Exhaust cam from the 99/00 Elantras. The 1.8 cam was used before the newer 2001's came over with their better cams. In short, do not get a 1.8 cam for a 2001+ car .

So I should get the Exhuast cam from a 1999 or 2000 2.0 and... intake cam aftermarket for the 2.0 2001-2002 from sharkracing?

On the 2001 your better off waiting for some one to either try a 00/99 exhaust cam and confirm it works or wait for after market cams designed for it especially. Unless you want to be the first to try the exhaust cam :)

I meant to say KORE not sharkracing as far as the cams.... I see only the intake cam is avalable.. this IS an upgrade right? The "OEM" thing throws me off, makes me think it is just a replcement cam with original specs. I could have sworn I saw an intake AND an exhuast upgrade cam somewhere... <img src=/images/forums/snitz/oogle.gif width=15 height=15 border=0> Thanks again.

in short... no one makes an aftermarket cam for the 2001 - 2002 Elantra.. correct? And really no one has tested the 2000 exhaust cam on the 2001/2002 engine.

Lastly... this has been bothering me, I am a newbie... what the hell is a "beta" motor?

I got my question answered on the "other" forum. The Beta engine is the 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 DOHC engines. The 1.5 is not a beta engine neither are the V6's.

There are no aftermarket cam upgrades available for the 2001 and 2002 Elanta/Tiburon.
