my parents have a 97 elantra.
i was wondering if i can steal their 1.8 cam and replace them with my 2.0 cam.
ofcoarse i'll have to do this without them knowing or they will bust my ass, since they know i WANT to rip their car apart to steal the cams.

I don't think it would "break" their car...but it would not run as it did before, and since the KNOW you want to do this...chances are you would get busted.

No, it will not fit. You have an alpha motor, the 1.8 is a beta. Two completely different engines.

I'm friend did this swap on his car he has a 97 elantra 1.8L and a 2k1 tiburon 2.0L. He whiched the cams and said the elantra started running like crap. He whiched them back after that but he might have had the cam put in it wrong by not having the right amount of links between the two marks on the cams. So just becareful and make sure you get the right number of links between those two marks. Also after you get the new cam installed take it easy on it for 500 miles to let it break in.
