I am looking further in the process of trading my 01 tib. Got a couple of questions to the Canadian members in this forum that traded their tibs already. The reason is that I got some bad pricing of my 01 Tib from the dealer today and I want to find out the differences.
P.S: Thanks Cottonmouth for the help.

1.) Year of vehicle?

2.) How long you drove the car?

3.) Mileage?

4.) Final trade-in price from your dealer?

Thanks in advance.

$12,000US?....that would make it aproximately $15,000-18,000 Canadian?

I had the same problem when I traded my 1997 Tib for my 2000. For some reason, the Dealers don't want their cars back

My best advise is to shop around (not sure which city you are in, but here in Toronto i went to like 6 different ones, each gave me different prices, which ranged by alot!)

Good luck!

Sup Danno. Yeah..I live in Markham and its very easy to reach to the GTA area. I'm just trying to find the best deal around but not really sure about the financing issues since I'm still financing my current 01 TIB.

"Merauer69" probably got a good deal on the tib. $14,000 for a 2000 SE and has 30,000Km on it.

Tell you my situation, my dealership offered me $16,000, 2001 TIB SE with 8020km on it and I droved it for only 9 months.

The $16,000 trade-in price is just way to low.

I think most of the Canadians haven't really traded their tibs yet at this moment because they are still waiting for the GT or GSR.
I will continue to find the best deals in Toronto and as well hoping to see some of the Canadian members in this board to input their trade-in prices once they grab the 03 tib.

BTW, for those of you Canadian members that traded your tibs already and want to help out, please indicate which dealership you got your trade-ins from alongside with my previous 4 questions. Thanks everyone.

I guess I lucked out and got a deal that day when I traded my 2k for the GT. I had a 2k SE extended warranty, alarm system, windows tinted and had the car close to 2 years. I had almost 44,000 km on it, but with an auto and cloth interior they were only gonna give me 15k for trade in. I laughed at them and said I was looking close to 19 which I knew was high. The salesman came back and said that in the auctions they could get the same thing for 9k and asked him why they dont have it on the lot then, but after some back and forth stuff they agreed to give me full payout on 17k that I owed on the car and took close to 2k off the sticker price on the GT. I just think it was my lucky day and was very happy. I dealt with Oakville Hyundai and they had great service and way more friendly than where I bought my 2k in Missisuaga. well I hope most of you that do go for a trade in get a good deal.

I think $16,000 is too low! You should be getting alot more, don't give into anything. Be patient. But I think you will laugh (or cry) at some of the offers you get... it's ridiculous!

I really hope it works out for you!

I want to get the GTR also, but I'm on a lease until Nov. 2003. I won't have to deal with trade-in by then!!! WHOohoo!

Sup Danno, think the price is too low hay? That's good that you agreed with me.

My dealer definitely ripped me off this time....he was telling me that everyday, there's always 3-4 1st and 2nd Gen tibs coming in to their dealership and wanted to trade...he was saying that he is afraid that the parking lot will be jam packed with old tibs. That's why I think he wants some profit off from every traded tibs.
I'd agreed with you and the rest for gettng a good deal from all over different places....I will try my best.

Yeah.. you're right about the laugh or cry regarding on the prices....hopefully they all will slam some smile on my face.

Thanks.

Rule of the thumb: You will never get true market value on a dealer trade in. Remember, the dealer has to flip your old car through auction or has to sell it for profit. Best way to maximize return on your old car is to sell privately through classified newspaper or magazines.

Hey Guys, for anyone in the Ottawa-Montreal-Cornwall Region, I know that Cornwall Hyundai and Hawkesbury Hyundai gives good deals.

Not too sure on trade-ins but to buy a car, thats where I got the best 2 deals in the whole Montreal to Ottawa-Hull region. I got a 2001 Tiburon SE Blue manual, lease 30k a year for 3 years and Hawkesbury was offering me 395$/month and I got an even better deal at Cornwall Hyundai but was cuz I was related to the owner ( girlfriends uncle, now my ex...)

for Hawkesbury Hyundai talk with Eric Thauvette, real good guy.

on any questions on how to get to any of those 2 dealership, write back here or email me at [email protected]

I am looking on maybe trading my lease or giving it to someone else and get the GSR Carbon Blue, but not sure yet...

see ya guys !!

Yeah Jawbreaker...Cottonmouth told me the same solutions on selling the car privately and I'm just thinking of doing it but its a 50/50. I'm still at the process of finding the right dealerships to give me a good trading-deal...if no luck, then I'm selling it privately.

My last option is to handover my 01 Tib to my brother to travel to University and finishing off the financing, repaint the whole car silver...add a CudaKit on it....turbo etc.

From there, I will get the 03 with a fresh start. This is only my last option...hopefully, it won't happen....

Thanks Jawbreaker.

Well, my father and I placed an order for the 2003 Tiburon GS-R with Agincourt Hyundai. Right now, still driving a 2000 Tiburon SE Auto, with about 29 000km. The trade in price they are giving us is $15 000.

Hmm...they also mentioned that the car won't be here till around mid-April....seems so far away.

Shadow Guyver....you are one lucky dude. $15,000 for a 2000 model and a 29,000 km is WORTH it. I am writing all these information down for references to compare.

I visited there once when I was picking the best dealers at the time...didn't know they are this good, now I'll have to consider visiting them. I also heard that Agincourt Hyundai moved to another location.

Well..thanks for the information.

No problem. Yeah, they moved their dealership to Morningside and Shepperd. It's this new plaza called the Automall which has like a couple of other car dealerships. I think the reason why they gave me a good price cuz the dealership is fairly new and they want to drum up business, plus we've bought 2 other Hyundais beforehand. I also went to check out the dealership at Warden and Eglinton and I don't know if what they mentioned was true but they said that they would give out the "best" deal since they are the "Number 1 dealership in Ontario". I was a little skeptical about their claims cuz they told me that if ordered with them, they could get me a GSR in 2 weeks which I think is a pure lie (that would mean I could be driving right now as we speak...oh well.).

Another thing I found funny was that the sales people in these dealerships were totally clueless about ANYTHING concerning the 2003 Tib....I remember I mentioned things like shifttronic transmission, immobilizer chip, 7 speaker stereo system, traction control, ABS etc.....they gave me a blank look and had to scramble feverishly for info.

NEhow, goodluck in your pursuit....

Hey, Hawkesbury Hyundai is where I ended up getting the best price for my '97 Tib trade in! And I thought it was a coincidence!!!

My ex is from there and I went all over TO and then there, got the best deal by far over there. Check them out!

Thanks Shadow Guyver and Danno for the support...really appreciated. I will try to look for different places but the bad thing is that some places are just too damn far....especially all the good ones like Oakville Hyundai. My parents would probably reject the far distances cuz they bought the car for my birthday so basically its under their control.... Can't wait until I have my own control when I get the 03 which will be finance by me.

I thought the one at Warden & Eglinton was all good....nah...So far, Oakville Hyundai gave the best deal, second is probably Agincourt Hyundai.

I will look forward to that.

Thanks peeps.
