hello,
yes, your right, there aren't any performance mods for the early excels. i did get a custom exhaust made though at my local mechanic's shop.

as for the hyd. clutch 5spd, look on copartfinder.com. they have a lot of 1990 excels.

As far as Excel GL 89 knows there aren't anything. There is a place in Australia called Racing Performance Works, they specialize in Mitsubishi, Proton, and Hyundai. As far as turbo's go, the 1.5L 8 valve is to small, but if you can find someone that can change it to 12 valve then You can make it work! I've been talking to RPW for the past year and another Australia resident with a couple Excel's, as far as cold air's go, not gonna happen unless you get a new Fuel injector off of a 94 Excel. The intake on the second gen 90-93 Excel has a MAFS (Mitsubishi Air Flow Sensor) just after the airbox which cause's mayhem! But if you do want a turbo, the best and probably cheapest is to get used Hyundai S Coupe turbo engine. Those should bolt right in. Body kits are being offered by ATH in Germany, which KORE motorsports imports to the US. A price for the kit unpainted is around $1200. Other than that there isn't much. I have a 1991 Excel I'm just changing the suspension to rally it. That means stiffer springs and shocks and struts. Lowering springs are offered by Eibach, Intrax, and someone else big I forget. I called Eibach and asked about progressive springs but they said they didn't have any. but many places online show Eibach has some normal lowering springs. If you would like to know more, e-mail me at "[email protected]" I'll help you out as best I can.

Hey, Pumbaa. I was on yer website lookin at the pic of yer blue valve cover, when i noticed that your resonator assembly is still on there. I took mine off and my car sounds better under full throttle. I don't think it hurts anything because all it leaves is a hole where you can see your air filter. So not only does it give you some more sound, but it lets more air into the airbox.
