well, actaully its been doing this since the day i got it. but its never really bothered me that much, especially cus all my friends thought it was cool. haha but anyway, when i let off the gas, and ESPECIALLY when i rev just sitting there...once i let off the gas and the engine's rpm's go down i get this kinda of "backfire" sound. its like VVVRRRRRRRRRRROOOMMMMmmpoppapoppmmmmpoppopmmmmmmmmmm

haha if u guess get that. It came with an aftermarket universal Naxos muffler on it, welded right to the pipe and it fits and all (well i haven't really inspected for leaks). I just put a custom CAI on it, with a filter going to a 3" civic intake and then to the maf and air temp sensor then to a pvc bend to the throttle body. i haven't even driven it with this on, just did it today. ive only revved..and it like amplifies the backfireing as well as eveything else.

just curious what u guys think..any similar experiences?

It is the type of muffler you have. If you were getting real backires, you would see a "flash" out the tail pipe, and the "pop" would be fairly loud, accompanied by an exhaust "clunk" and the mini-explosion makes your exhaust jump in it's brackets.

yea..i kinda knew it wasn't a "real" backfire... ive seen cars really backfire (i was getting a truck MD saftey-inspectd with a family friend, and there was an old chevy truck there..they were buring off the desiel fuel that some retard "accidentally" filled it with! now that was some backfire action!)

anyways, Decrum here on the boards has one on his 2k... so its probably because i have the muffler on stock pipes? and the air flow insn't as much as the muffler would like i guess? anyways he said somethin bout puttin a spark plug in ur exhaust (that'd be hot to get a flame to shoot out at each shift, lol) id heard about somethin like that to burn the unused fuel..but anybody know anything bout actaully applying and makeing it?

Maybe it isjust backpressure, like if you rev it up you get kind of a rolling round as the rpms drop. Maybe but got me

hmm, just had a thought... how could i relieve the backpressure? short of getting a whole new pipe job (which id like but its prolly too much) ...what if a drilled a hole or two in the pipe? like right before the exhaust..like kinda "port" it. yea, i kno it'd make it loud as shiznit prolly...

but any other ideas?
