Alright today was not my day for cars, when i was on my way home from work my check engine light came on, it still runs and drives fine until i put it in 5 th gear then the rpm's just drop off and i loose all power and the car slows down. Any help or opinions would be helpful.

I have a cone filter that is clamed to where the filter box used to be. But its been there for bout a month and a half with no problems

Plugs and wires are brand new and i gapped them properly myself. its only got 57,000 on it

I hope it's just something simple like plugs or fuel filter. The check engine light came in the Scoupe came on last Saturday and the car stalled. Turned out the ECU had fried. <img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle>

Well, if it is fine except for 5th gear...It could be 5th gear then. If it did that in every gear, then I would think it wouldnt be a transmission related problem. But if all other gears are fine, then it may just be that one.
