use a soft wire brush, they are out of the car, right??

I would also look into some coating on those pistons while you have them out of the car.

Yes this is my built spare engine. The head is currently off of it and I dont plan on tearing it down any further no more....

you could get some motor flush and let the engine run for half an hour..

or just out flush on it and et it soak overnight

i'mma try takng my head's off to, i alway's wanted to see my pistons,

maybe even buy some stronger rod's and piston's with the reprogrammed shark ecu for a basic H/A tuned Setup.

if the engines together nothing beats steam cleaning - spray water into a major intake vac line ie brake booster while engine is up to temp & running.

if you have the head off there are a plethora of chemicals that will break down carbon. last week I was scraping the remnants of a headgasket off one of my Zu motors & the gasket spray shyte turned out to do a good job of cleaning the piston tops. try a 15 min soak w/any engine degreaser.

there is one way to clean iy but it's a bit risky,

mix filtered water, mild soap and a can of engine flush or a bottle of fuel injector cleaner,
heating the mixture would result in better results,

pour into spark plug hole's with the plug's removed...hydrolock won't occur since pressure sin't involved...but make sure you change your oil after this..

get in car and start engine..the moving part's of the engine should clean itself out..
you'll just hear...blop,blop,blop,blop

[body]Steam Cleaning? If you wanna hydro lock your motor.. Go and run water in your engine..[/body]
already have in all of them, on a few occasions. this is nothing new, do some research. a 30 sec search turned these up for your reading pleasure:

back to cleaning tops on a headless motor, oven cleaner will decarbonize anything. but its pretty caustic stuff - maybe try a little on a particular stubborn deposit, give it a few mins and see how effective it is.

That, or pour ATF down the carb... or somehow spray it into the IM. I just realized no one has carbs but me... but yes ATF will steam clean the **** out of the engine.
