Hi everyone,

I'm new to all this, so bear with me.

I was wondering if anyone could help me regarding taking off the orange reflectors off the front headlight assembly on a 2001 GSi. I know how to get the light assembly out, but the clips that hold the clear plastic seem like they are going to break when you try to lift them. Is this the way to do it or am I going to break my lights?? <img src=/images/forums/snitz/eek.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if ur talking about the clips that hold the orange thingys... yeah, just break 'em and use needle nose pliars to break the orange into pieces! tehn just get them out of the hole.

do a search if u want more info. just write clear tail lights in the serach feild! <img src=/images/forums/snitz/wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

No, I'm talking about the front lights, and what holds the clear casing to the back casing of the headlights.

I did a search and it said there were no results<img src=/images/forums/snitz/angry.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Oh well, thanks anyways.

Don't do that, just take a screwdriver and beat the piss out of the reflector. IT will fall out of its spot, the break it into pieces small enough to take out the hole.

what you have to do is take the light assembly out. Then you put a screwdriver through the hole where the sidemarker bulb goes. Use the scewdriver to break the orange reflector off( don't worry it is a seperate piece ) Once it is detached use the screwdriver to break it into many pieces.

When the pieces are small enough to fit through the hole use a pair of tweezers to pull it through the sidemarker hole.

Good luck <img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

ok
this makes no sense at all.
You are going to BREAK your headlights
so they can be clear?
Aren't the bulbs for your turn indicatior orange anyways?

yes, the bulbs are orange. But, you can put white ones in. It is illegal because turn signals have to be red or yellow. But the look is great

You are not breaking the whole thing. You are only breaking the the lil orange piece out.

Here's a piece of advice for those that are going to try this. After each crack of the orange reflector, try to get the pieces out immediately. If you continue to crack and crack and crack, little orange slivers end up all over the place in your headlight assembly and they're a b!tch to get out.

I would rather have red than clear and two, that still sounds like a dumb idea breaking your headlight JUST so it can be clear.... but hey, what ever floats your boat I guess<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/oogle.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

well it is good that they are available, but pricey. But if uyou don't like the idea of damaging the OE pair then that is a good way to go.

If you do break the original ones,
then you gotta buy new ones right,
then if you try again and break those<img src=/images/forums/snitz/laugh.gif width=15 height=31 border=0>
then you might have well just bought the clear ones anyways right?<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

if you are going to break them it is because you do not know for certain how to do it. If you are careful they should be ok.

If you think you are not sure how to do it, then i say buy them clear.

Ok, here I go again. I can't get the stupid power connector off the headlight assembly. Yes, I know, I am not a mechanic.

Someone please help! <img src=/images/forums/snitz/disapprove.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>
