I've got a 90 Excel GS and I was looking for any clear corners or tail lights for it but none are available. So, one day I saw a cavalier with clear tail lights, until i got closer and they looked like the stock tails with white pinstriping closely spaced. So i went to the local speed shop and bought some 1/8" white pinstriping. I put it on the one corner light and when it was finished, you'd swear they were clear. It only looks right from 10+ feet away or 5+ feet away when they're on at night. I only left about 1/32" of space between them, but I think they might look better if they were a little farther apart (like 1/16"). But it takes around 15-30 mins for one corner light and about 2 hours for the tails. Im going to mask off the squares of the tail lights and paint the grid type stuff white on the tails to complete the look. I'll put up some pics as soon as I get done. I think it looks really good, and for less than $10 for clears all around, its worth it if you do a good job.

TRScobra....I'm confused. You have a tailight, which is red. Then you put white pinstriping on it and it makes it look clear? How is that possible. You have red in the background with white pinstriping grided across...So I would think red with a white checkerboard appearence look. Im going to need a picture. They sell something called "Euro" tailights, which have that cleared out look. Kind of on the new Lexus IS300 and RX300 SUV. I'd invest the money into some of those. They're phat. Its kind of like hubcaps vs. rims, ya know? Not only that, it blocks a lot of the red with the pinstriping making it not as visible to drivers at night or during the day when you are stopping. Anyway, Just some advice...But I would like to see a picture <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

lol. That 32 valve northstar V8 would take up the whole inside of the car, not just the compartment. lol. Mine too

From a distance, they look like the frosted clear tail lights. the spaces between the stripes is soo small you can't really see them. I'm doing them now (It takes along time) and my cars parked in a garage with the back facing the rear of the garage so i cant tell what they look like in broad daylight. I'd move the car, but it has no trans (saving up the $1000 it's costin me). As i said before, they look kinda weird from close, but from a distance, they look like the frosted clear lights. Just enough to turn heads.

Oh, and even if you cover the lights in the pinstriping, the light easily shows through them... You get the same amount of light output as if you had blackouts on them.

I live in PA and anything covering the headlights or taillights is illegal, but the cops only pulled people over for it when they first came out. I have a camaro with headlight and tail light covers and I never got pulled over for it. Even when the cops were right behind me at a stoplight! Either way.. I'll have pics of them soon. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I am not responsible for any fines/charges/accidents incurred while your tails/corners are covered. (I felt I had to put that incase some jackass gets screwed and tries to sue me.)
