The filters are washable. It only costs a few dollars to buy a cleaning kit and you can clean your filter several times with one.

if you get a cai you do not want it to go under the battery! it may be a better filter but what good is it gonna do if it gets clogged every other week from all the dirt it sucks up? i have a ractive cai w/ heat shield and all i did was attach the filter directly to the max air flow sensor, i clean it every 3-4 months and i have had no problems, i would rather sacrifice the 2hp for the slightly warmer air it gets, over a clogged filter every week any day

Hmm I tried to explain it to you yesturday but I guess I will do it again today.

Filter in engine bay=little to no Hp gain (it does not matter if there is a heat shield on the sides cause there is still hot air coming through the front.)

A true CAI = 5-10hp so you are sacrificing more than 2hp. In addition to that I have not heard 1 person in over a year on these forums (starting with FXtreme) b!tch about their CAI getting clogged.

So please stop telling people that they will have problems with any of the CAIs available for our cars cause they clogg. Atleast until you have had problems or start hearing people complain about problems.

I manage A Jiffy Lube on Long Island. EVERY day i look at these CAI filters because its my job to inspect it. I have seen more cai's installed on tibs and elantras than you could possibly imagine over the last year or so. So when i have to disconnect it and point out to the customer that the filter is so clogged that you cant even see the original color of the filter, and they say "oh wow, i never checked it,now i know to clean it, thanx" that just goes to prove that nobody even checks the filter to see if its clogged to complain. "out of sight, out of mind."
so to answer you: people cant complain because you are not going to notice a 2-4hp loss due to a clogged filter.

So you prove my point. The problem is not that the filters get clogged easily. The problem is the owners are too fvcking stupid to clean them.

So I go back to my original statement that there is not any real problem with the filters getting clogged on a CAI.

If you maintain your car well and you decide to only add a filter (with or without heatshield) then you are sacrificing more than just 2 hp. You are giving up 5-10hp. Now if you are a dumbass and you just don't ever clean it then you don't desearve to have a car.

point taken. and with all that cleared up i agree with you totally. MOST people do not take care of their cars,(can you say lazy), hence all my comments on the cai. if you plan on actually taking care of your car this is the way to go. needless to say i will be switching to a new cai.
