Hi,

I am trying to change the timing belt on my wife's 99 Excel, but am having a helluva time getting the crankshaft pulley off. My service manual says to lock the engine by putting it in 4th and applying the brakes (with a 2nd person obviously) but I find that it doesn't lock it solid - there is still some spring - and the arc of movement of my socket bar is not enough to put enough torque on the bolt to move it.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
