I have a question about 1sickgs's civic intake setup. In pictures, I see that you have the filter behind the battery and near the top. Is that intake pulling in cold air? If I were to do that mod on an otherwise stock engine, would there be any performance loss? I have a 1.6

It would be pulling in cold air if you put a functional scoop on your hood.

No, u are not drawing in cold air at all, actually its pretty warm thanks to the radiator fans. If u hooked up a shield to block it, maybe...

U have looked at the stock intake right? The short intake gets rid of all that restriction, as well as adding a terific sound to the car. 1SickGS used a gtech pro with it, and it told him he got 4-5 hp. My best ET with it is a 16.94, my best w/o is 17.2X.

Another plus is that the shorty only cost $80, compared to $200 for a full CAI.

Maybe even cheaper if you shop hard enough.

I did the same thing to my accent it gave me somewhat of a hp gain, yes its not cold but more air into the engine is better whether it is cold or not.
As for the price alls i did was bolt a cone filter where the air box was supposed to be, i got a nice red one to match my interior and engine for only about 20 bucks at Pep Boys

If I only had a brain......

or you could get some longer piping and run the filter down to your front air dam

the intake setup i'm using on my girl's works very well. if i have time this weekend i'll take a pic with a friends digital camera. i just used the stock box with some creativity. i used piping from the tb to the box, used a [email protected] pannel filter and then ran 3" piping down in front of the bumper. it works great for her auto since we can't run a normal intake(stupid big auto tranny).

its my girl's car

On that intake, Skierd's pic, what is the thing that is plugging into the TB (in the middle of it in the pic) what kind of sensor is that

I don't think it's racing that I'm addicted to, it must be the adrenaline rush.
