ok is it hard to do the custom intake on a 98 accent, i mean wut do you have to do to put the damn thing on and is it worth doing, i already have a KandN filter in the airbox now but would it be better to do the custom intake with the big cone filter at the end. pics, info, would be good.

Well, it's not hard you just have do put the tube and filter before the MAF sensor.

Well, I am not completely sure on what is after the MAF on your car, but mine it the stock air box. I wouldn't take the MAF out of it's housing. Some people say they have done this, but if you mess it up, it could costs you some money.

I don't think its gonna work dude. It hasn't yet on the MAF cars. I'd take the tubing back and save the money.

The MAF (mass air flpw) sensor measures how much air is going into the car. As long as you keep the stock MAF housing, you should be fine. However, when you remove the sensor from the housing and try to put it into the civic intake, there will be problems.

the MAF is calibrated to read airflow through its housing. If you put it into something other than its housing it will not read the correct aitflow and the car will run like sh!t.

If you hook the intake up the way accent1 and rudy did, you shouldn't have problems.

thanks for the comp! The intake will NOT work unless you use the stock MAF you have to have this in order for the comp to understand and run prop! you can move your MAF like I did but you CANNOT run without it ! Just make sure that when you install the MAF that you put it in the correct direction it will only read oneway!

Hey there guys, You know know what? I have a 2002 Accent GSI, which in canada has the 1.6 DOHC. I was screwing with my air intake and I don't think there is any sensors on my intake at all, But..... I found some stupid box along the air intake close to the throttle body that hangs from the intake down low. Can I run with out it? I am guess its function is to collect water?

yes you can remove this box it is a storage container for the air itself! If you are installing a CAI then you will remove it!

Go-ped, if you have the 1.6L, you do not have to worry about the MAF sensor because you have a MAP sensor instead (its that thingy on the Intake manifold). Just get the civic intake and shorten it.

Its the 1.5L cars that have the problem.

i'm looking to do an intake myself (2001 1.5L w/maf). How do you attach the maf to the intake tube?

Unless you know what your doing, your really shouldn't mess with the MAF housing, stick a tube then filter or cone filter on the end of the maf tube. Does that make sense?
