I've tried to create a comprehensive DIY guide for both interior painting and door panel removal. You can find them on my web site here:

Take you time, if you are going to use regular paint, sand, primer, paint and then clear coat. Be patient and let everything dry. If you use that SEM paint, it costs more but there's like no prep work, just paint it right on.
