Someone else had a prob like this and it was suggested there wasn't enough oil getting to the lifters or rockers or somewhere thereabouts. Check your oil level and maybe change the oil.

My Mitsu Triton had similar noise when I let the oil get low (it burns a bit & used to leak a bit)topped up the oil & noise gone.

Hope this helps.

its the oil sending thingi.. i don't knwo what its called.. it seems that its not spitting oil onto the rocker right and is causeing the ticking. The guy who looked at it for me didn't have time to fix it yet... any ideas on how i could fix it myself?

OOOO! if u find out how to fix it, and what this "oil spitting thingy" is in mechanical terms (so that i can use in order to ask mechanics about it, haha) then ill be in business too! i think i may have put too thick of oil in my car, so i changed it and i hope it fixes it..but otherwise i need to get it fixed in mine!

alright, thanks! Mine makes it all the time tho, and i had a hyundai mechanic listen to it. He said they'd just have to pull it in for like..2 hrs..4hrs ..however long it takes to figure out whats wrong/clean/repalce lifters whatever... and i got my car used at 62 k, its a 98 and the warranty dies at 60, and its now got 65k, so i don't really wanna have to pay for them to root around in there and then do all the work..id like to see what i can do myself..or take it to a shop and be able to say "this needs fixed"... so i hope they can tell u exactly what ur was! thanks again bro
