The dash lights on my 08 sonata only work when the headlights are on . The rehostat does not do anything . Is it bad or are there different circuts for the dah lights .

That sounds not normal imo. Do you know the history of the car?

The history of the car is important, I agree.
For the meantime, I suggest a trip to the mechanic would be highly beneficial to the car.
