I know there is a site but I'm posting anyway so shut up....... :D

Need
-10mm Socket
-15/16" socket (if applicable)
-CAM(s)!!!
-about hour of free time( took me hour and half cuz i was looking at the websites for directions and taking breaks and such)

first step....open the hood lay the tools make it look like you know what you're doing
<img src="http://www.cartogra.com/rs/D08CD344-106F-11D6-B42A-0090277A760E/screen" border=0>

Second Step
take valve cover off....i'm sure you all know how to do that

Third Step(IF applicable)
IF the dots are NOT in straight UP position, jack the car up high enough where the tire does not touch the ground....manually turn the wheel RIGHT....go to the passenger side fenderwell and find an opening...should be a crank bolt....with 15/16" socket, turn until you get the dots facing up
<img src="http://www.cartogra.com/rs/D08CD351-106F-11D6-B42A-0090277A760E/screen" border=0>

Fourth Step
with the popular 10mm socket wrench, take off those bolts 10 on intake 2 on exhaust as shown below
<img src="http://www.cartogra.com/rs/D08CD624-106F-11D6-B42A-0090277A760E/screen" border=0>

Fifth Step
After you taken the journals off, gently but steadily push down the cam as shown below and the cam will become loose
<img src="http://www.cartogra.com/rs/D08CD626-106F-11D6-B42A-0090277A760E/screen" border=0>
<img src="http://www.cartogra.com/rs/D08CD36C-106F-11D6-B42A-0090277A760E/screen" border=0>

Sixth Step
when putting new cam(s) MAKE SURE you put the cam in the right way as shown below. I dunno what they call that...
<img src="http://www.cartogra.com/rs/D08CD622-106F-11D6-B42A-0090277A760E/screen" border=0>

Seventh Step
tighten all the journal bolts...IT WILL NOT go in easy as it came out. you will most likely have to push the cam down(each end one at a time) and screw the bolts by hand until it no longer goes in.(need to push it hard enough so the HLA's move) and then screw it with a socket wrench
I chose that way because I didn't want to break the screws. but you can tighten them one by one carefully and hope it won't break.

Eighth Step
Put the valve cover back on like so...
<img src="http://www.cartogra.com/rs/D08CD372-106F-11D6-B42A-0090277A760E/screen" border=0>

WHEN YOU PUT THE VALVE COVER BACK ON, APPLY a SEALANT ALONG THE RUBBER GASKET OR IT WILL LEAK(most cases)....I used HONDA BOND...from HONDA :)

DON'T FORGET to plug the 2 little hose on TOP RIGHT hand of the valve cover. or The car will idle rough
AND put the spark plug wires in right order(can't miss it)

and Whala~

Great pics man!

You don't need to remove the journal bolts on the exhaust cam tho. We didn't have to...<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

I don't know why Brendan would say to take that journal out cause when we did it we didn't remove it at all... I sent him a link to this thread so he can make the neccessary changes to his page.

As for the Avatars... Just go into your "Edit Profile" and look there. You will see a "Select Avatar" link where you will be given a selection of pics to use.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

The cam journal was for the older motors with the chain guide, it does say if it doesn't have the chain guide leave it alone, if it does you need to remove it ALA RED

I am planning on getting the Elantra GT 2001.5 2.0L CAM.
I have a valid question. Everyone is talking about using them in the 2000 tibs and lower.
But the 2000 tibs have Hals not solid lifters. Can you use a solid lifter CAM on a head that has HALs?
