Ok take a shot at this one because it's been bothering the crap out of me. Well first let me say that I'm not afraid to go to the doctors, but there is a reason why I haven't gone yet. The last time that I went was like in January or something like that. I have a copay and I paid it like I always do before I go to see the doctor. They keep sending me this bill saying that I owe the 10 bucks, and for some reason it's now up to like 90 bucks. I paid the freakin copay but I can't prove it b/c it was cash. Ok anyway, so I thought that I'd ask on here to see what you think it could be.
It's in my left ear, and every once in awhile I get this pain that is really bad that I have to hold my ear. It comes and goes and doesn't seem to have any pattern. I don't have a cold or anything like that so it couldn't have settled in my ear. Sometimes it also makes me feel off balance/dizzy.

Redshark,

Most likely you will need to see an eye, ears, nose, and throat specialist. There are many possibilities to rule out. This is something that shouldn't be put off any longer!!! If you don't know of any specialist get in to see your Medical Doctor as soon as possible. He or she should know of the specialist you should see! If you need to see one.

As far as the billing trouble goes, get a receipt when any payments are made in the future. Also, if you haven't done so, call them on the phone and tell them about what had happended.

If you want to be seen earlier, you could always ask to be put on the cancellation list.

I now am sick Do you think that somehow the cold started in my ears and I have an ear infection? Or is just a coiencedence?

That's a possibility! Just took awhile to show up. I'm assuming you now have an earache?!

I don't know if you will be able to respond before I go, but I'm going to the mountains tomorrow, do you think that it will make it worse or better on my ears and is there anything I should do?

Your ears may pop as you ascend and make the pain that you feel already, worse. Higher altitudes always make my ears pop. Thats from my own person experience though. Lets see what Doc has to say...

It depends on how high up you go and how fast. You may feel nothing, but then again if you have an ear infection you may have some discomfort. I wouldn't worry about it. The main thing is getting some anti-biotics if you do have an ear infection.

Just in case its a little windy or cold up there and your going to be out and about in the mountain area. Put cotton in your ears or those little hearing protectors made to fit in your ears. Make sure not push the cotton in too deep so you can't retrieve it! Otherwise have fun.

Man the last time I had an ear infection. I went on a road trip and it was the worest trip in my life. Had motion sickness so bad that I had to ride in the car with my eyes closed for 5 hours. Because anytime I opened them I felt like I was going to punk or crap my pants. Not fun even to this day I still get nervous about going somewhere because of how bad that trip was.
