Hmmm well that is not a lame excuse that they can not fix it because its probley controlled by the computer. There is also a computer controlled function like if you are on a hill and start roling at about 5 mph the engine will automatically pick up to 1,000 revs on the 2001 elantra, (i have the 5 speed). I also notice that the revs dont fall off. This could be something to do with the double over head cam configeration too. I had a grand prix that had 4 over head cams and it was the same way quick throtle response but took about 5 sec for it to settle back down.

The thing with the computer is that the computer chip set is programed in ROM (read only memory) and is not programable or reporgramable from outside sources. so the mechanic might reconize it as a problem only because its not normally found on cars. but he can't fix/ reprogram the computer. nor will the computer think that anything is wrong cuss it just does what its programed to do.
