For those of you who have much knowledge on the GT engine.......woul it be a wise thing to put the cams on the 97 Elantra block? What type of gains being that my car is turbo would I be looking at? Does anybody know where or by whom I can purchase forged pistons and rods for my car? Also been trying to stiff up the back end for the whole shot....any suspension ideas...I already have stiff springs.
Thanks!!<img src=/images/forums/snitz/moon.gif width=15 height=15 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/finger.gif width=33 height=15 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Casey, its a 1997 1.8L Elantra

Which Fasred is gonna get into a problem with. There is little to nothing for the 1.8L. It was finally discontinued all together in 1998 and the 1.8L went non-existant. Therefore since #1, the Tiburon only had the 1.8L for one year (especially) and the Elantra held the engine for 3 years, its gonna be tough.

I would say one word. Custom. Sorry

Smiley,
Now I know the 1.8L was discontinued, but the G4CM to the G4GF there is only one difference, which is the stroke of the engine. Now if the Elantra GT is 2.0 than does it have an G4GC if so than the cams have almost the same specs, except for a little more duration as mine, or maybe I haven't really checked the specs.......<img src=/images/forums/snitz/eek.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

In your 1.8L you would probably be looking at only a 2hp increase, not worth it IMO. You would have to get real aftermarket cams.

It is still sold in Australia.

Anyway try www.rpw.com.au for internals.
