I was reading on a few other boards. Supposedly next spring, the Elantra GTS is suppose to debut. This Elantra is kinda like the Ford Focus ZX3 SVT for Hyundai. The Elantra GTS comes equipped with 16" rims, foglights, the GT suspension, and you have the option of the Inline 4 engine currently available OR 2.7liter V6. And to put the icing on the cake, it comes available with a 4spd automatic transmission or 6 SPEED MANUAL <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

As of now, this remains a rumor, but I see it popping up more and more in Hyundai related forums and dealerships say its coming next spring. We'll have to wait and see...

if they come out with that car, i'm gonna have to find someway to con my parents in to buying this car for about 2Gs(downpayment for the GTS) and take over the payments.

That rumors been around. Think about it. Why would Hyundai use the same engine that is in the Sonata. That would take sales away from the Sonata. This car would only become a reality if they upgraded all the other engines in the Sonata & XG.

The roumor started when they did put the engine in a gt to test for the 2003 tib before the protoype was ready, since they both have the same chassis and engie bay producing a GTS won't be hard, but it will live in a different market than the sonata or the tib, small sporty sedans are popular, they may do it as a limited edition maybe or just to throw it into honda's/nissans face to beat up the new sir/se-r . It's still a roumor untill we see it.

Oh to add to the swap comment, I ran a few car test figures ( car thest has been very accurate btw ) accounting for 200 lbs more, on stock Elantra 5 spd gearing the top speed will be 141 mph, 0-60 6.5 sec and 1/4 in 15 sec or so. not bad

Hmmmmmmmm... I was actually thinking of trading my 98 Elantra GLS for a new Audi A4 1.8T but maybe I'll just hold on for a while and see what the specs are on the Elantra GTS...
