Ok, I understand they each have the same engine in them. However, are they both exactly 140hp? I mean, the tibby has a little more aggressive exhaust so wouldn't it possibly produce a little more hp like .5 or something? I mean how can the same engine in two different exhaust systems produce the exact same power?

Naw man check this, My generation elantra comes stock with 130hp with a quicker tranny then the tibby same generation but it has 140hp. they both look the same and all.

LOL josh, Tibs ARE quicker than elantra's stock vs stock. you have 10 more hp. BUT I would like to see them run against each other. Stick vs stick and equal drivers. ASK ir2 and saint, Saint thinks I drive like a mad man. lol

My guess would be, the tiburon transmission is geared more toward a quick acceleration and cruises at a generally higher rpm.

auto compared to auto of a 2k My tiburon cruises at 2800rpm at 60mph and the elantra cruises at 2500tpm at 60mph.

When the tiburon hits 80mph, I believe the rpms are around 3600rpms, were the elantra stays around 3000rpms.

those numbers being from final gear, and do not take them as fact, they are front what I remember when I was comparing the two when driving.

Lantra, tibs are only quicker than the 96-98 elantras. The 99-2002 share the same 140hp engine.
