HELLO I HAVE A 2015 HYUNDAI ELANTRA 2.0 LITER 8TH VIN H CAIFORNIA EMMISIONS ENGINE. MY QUESTION IS CAN I SWAP THE ENGINE WITH A 2016 FEDERAL EMMISION ENGINE? ARE THE BLOCK AND HEADS THE SAME? I SEARCHED AROUND AND NO ONE HAS GIVEN ME A STRAIGHT ANSWER

Is your Elantra an MD or an AD? If yours is an AD then it should be running the same G4NH 2.0 engine. The only differences I can think of will be emissions/catalytic converters between federal and Cali. I couldn't find enough information in regards to engine management to determine if the harnesses and sensors are the same.

i also noticed on top of my valve cover there is a sticker that starts with G4NC. IF THAT MEANS ANYTHING
The difference between the G4NC and the G4NH is the G4NH is a revision where the stroke and bore was changed. Now I'd imagine it's the same situation as the earlier Beta engines where engine codes were changed because the crank and rods were different but the heads and block were identical (1.8 G4GM/2.0 G4GF) IF the heads are the same then you can guarantee the blocks will also be the same.
