My lantra engine runs fine but recently stutters a LOT between 3500 and 4000 revs. It's very repeatable, i.e. never happens at other revs and always happens within that rev range, so I'm thinking it could be something to do with a bung sensor? Why else would it be so repeatable?

What year is the car?

The 2001-2003 Elantras have this 3800-4200 rpm power drop that is noticable on the dyno graph. A TSB reflash is available, but that does not eliminate the issue all together.

Well it doesn't seem to be the plugs.

Some days it is fine and other days it will stutter at that exact rev range.

Today it went a step further and choked and lost most of the power at low revs and the check engine light came on. After pulling over for 20 seconds it was fine and I made it the extra few minutes to work.

Does this sound like a sensor problem?
