I'm about 99% sure you can swap the gen2 motor into the gen1 FXs.. seeing how its the same motor, but what other engines could be swapped? <img src=/images/forums/snitz/oogle.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

I have a real good feeling that the new 2003 V6 will be able to be dropped into the 1st and 2nd gen tibs. The 2003 Tib will be equipped with the V6 with an optional 4cyl Beta. I figure that Hyundai will incorporate engine mounts that will fit both the 4cyl and V6. Which brings me to the conclusion that the V6 will use the same engine mounts as the current Beta driven Tiburons and Elantras.

All that is left is to figure out the wiring, ECU, and other misclaneous crap.

Who will be the first???<img src=/images/forums/snitz/oogle.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Nope.

The V6 and 4-cyl GK will have a completely different engine subframe up front. The V6 will have the Sonata subframe, while the 4-cylinder will have the Elantra subframe.

That doesn't make sense for Hyundai to do that...<img src=/images/forums/snitz/oogle.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

How so?

The Sonata subframe has all the engine mounts for the V6 already thanks to the 2002 Sonata having the 2.7L, and the Elantra subframe has all the mounting points for the Beta.

The rest of the chassis is the same, except for the engine bay.

So you're saying that the Elantra and Sonata have identical subframes except for up front where the engine mounts to it?

That is very strange...<img src=/images/forums/snitz/uhh.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

The two cars will be identical except for the sheet metal in the engine bay.

Seems kinda stupid for Hyundai to do that. I just figured that creating universal engine mounts would be the economically feasable route to take... Instead of changing the engine bay compartment...<img src=/images/forums/snitz/disapprove.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Looks like a Hybrid is still as difficult as ever...<img src=/images/forums/snitz/angry.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>
