yep

but it'll be restrictive. idealy you'd want a 2.5 straight through.

i've got the stock 2.25 with a turbo.

nope, you'll want min of 2.5. larger turbos pusing 17+ would require 3inch. if you dont go larger, or port out your 02 housing you'll get boost creep, thats bad. better the breathing, better the performance. you could be like me, and just run an electronic exhaust cutout on your downpipe. http://www.mccordcg.com/mpp/mpp.htm

corky bell from maximum boost says that exhaust pipe should be about 10% larger than the outlet of turbo..measure your outlet and add about 10% to it :)

I ran my car with a 2.25"mandrel bent exhaust with the turbo and that went just fine. If i went bigger i might have gained more power but i was already content with the power i gained.

i put a 3" exhaust on my car, and it was real loud. then i put on the biggest resonator (24") and magnaflow muffler that would fit. didn't seem to make any difference at all. driving on the highway for an hour is brutal.

i'm thinking of moving to a 2.5" exhaust or find some OEM stock components to put on (like a WRX STi resonator/muffler).

been doing some exhaust research:

wrx is 2" http://www.mattrandolph.com/wrx/cat-back-comparisons.htm

sti is 2.25" http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-489251.html

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-523477.html

quiet mufflers http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-515348.html

2.5" vs 3" http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?threadid=47896

conclusion: in hindsight 3" was probably over the top.

EXELLENT backing 99mini....

i for the sake of researching this have also chose 2.5" straight pipe for it seems to be adequate to ~300+whp without a lot of restriction.

I'm pretty sure, but don't quote me on this... that corky bell said the Intercooler pipe should be 10% bigger than the outlet of the turbo. But its been awhile since i've read his books.....

With a turbo, genearlly the bigger the better. But you have to keep in mind the cost of "bigger" and what is really adequate. So i'm sure you will be fine with your 2.25 at a small boost level and decent exhaust components.

why are you talking about intercooler pipe ???

Bigger is better?? This how it works---hot gases exit the manifold and make the turbo spin..they go through turbo still hot into the downpipe. If the pipe is too big the temeperature drops and cold gases have bigger velocity and they start stopping each other..and you don't need an extra restriction in the exhaust! Bigger is not better!!

I'm talking about intercooler pipe because the ratio of 10% larger than the turbo outlet applies to your INTERCOOLER PIPES.

As far as i know you cant go too big wiht a turbo back exhaust... i dotn know what country your from... but whatever. keep puffin on that crack pipe dude

so its an argument with what size to go for max of 300whp.

2.5 maybe a lil too small in some cases and 3in is a lil too big, loud, and costy
so 2.75 would work.... if you can find pipes that size :)

yeah, I went to one and max that they can bent was 2.5, so I decided to get my own 3in mandrel bent pipes and just weld them together :)

I'm actually deciding now what I want to do, either get exhaust cutout and keep my car a total sleeper, or get 3in exhaust....

I was also thinking of gettin SS for my exhaust :) you guys think that regural muffler shop would be able to weld SS like they do with mild steel?

thanks
