This was my first time at the track in my STOCK 2001 Tiburon 5-spd. I don't think I did really well off the line but I eventually learned how to time the lights. The first time I don't think I reved it enough and it bogged. The second one was better but I had wheel hop. I think if I practiced more I could shave .2 seconds off my time. I went there just to watch but then saw that 90% of the civics were running 17 and 18's so I new I wouldn't look that bad if I had 16's. That isn't bad for a newbie, right?

The first run with the ZX2 had an Intake and Exhaust.

The second run was against an 00 Tiburon that also had an intake and exhaust. In the beginning of each gear we ran even, but when we hit the topend of each gear, he slowly pulled away. That proves how much the exhaust helped him out.

What was the track temperatures when you ran?

I was just curious how the temperatures can effect the ET's...

My best time is 16.1 in the 1/4 with I/E...
The track temps were also VERY hot. Like in the 40's (celcius).

Probably around 70 degrees. The guy next to me in the 01 Tib had a full CAI and a cat-back only. It was amazing how close we were in the low RPM's and then how much he started to pull in the higher RPM's. Exhaust really makes a difference.

WOW!!!

Then I was running @ 105 degrees F!

Any thought on how much of a difference that would have on my E/T?

Although I don't have any time-slips on me (I lost em.) my times are very similar. My fastest run being a 16.3 but averaging mid to high 16's with a couple of crappy low 17's.

And yes cotton it was hot that day..... DAMN HOT!

I ran my best last night.. I am bone stock, minus the intake resonator.. I ran a 16.349 @ 84.48.. With wheel spin all the way through the 60' line.. It was about 65F last night at the track.. I was also TOTALLY cold before I ran.. I just let her run for about a minute before I staged to get the oil circulated..

Good Stuff though.. Congrats!!
Oh, and one more thing..

QUIT FIGITING WITH YOUR DAMN RADIO AT THE LINE AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE DAMN LIGHT!! ;)

Just a quick tip.. go when you see the last yellow.. By the time you react, you will cut a good light.. :)

Have fun!

How did you know?

I don't know if humidity makes a difference but it was pretty humid too.
Oh well, it was my first experience and I expect to do a lot better next time.

I haven't got to go to the track yet, every time my friends go I have to work. But I have beet plenty of SI's and Accords, the fastest one running a 15.4, and I beet him by a car. All I have done is Custom CAI, full Exhaust, and Short Shifter. But other people with these mods aren't running that fast. I have seen other tibs get beat by some slow $h!t, then I turn around and beat them, Maybe my car is somehow different.

I highly doubt, no sorry, I dont highly doubt, I know for an absolute fact, that you are not getting better then 15.4 in the 1/4 mile with just a CAI and an exhaust. This is not wonderland, you are not Alice and G-TECHS dont count! I might point out that the 94 Talson TSI AWD Turbo pulls 15.2 stock in the quarter mile, and since we are naturally aspirrated with no turbo I dont think a similar wieghing car is going to be getting close to that time. Espically with a 55 HP difference.

Look, I don't need some arrogant a-hole telling me what my car does wnd does't do. Last night, I beat a stealth that was running 15.5's by 2 car lengths. NO other tib in town can hangs with me. I'm not just some kid trying to start some crap, but just because you think you know it all, proves you don't know $h!t. In fact my next day off, I'll go to the trackand run 20 times and post all time slips. And when dealing with the TSI, they have great take off but all-wheel drive slows them down top-end.

Luxury!!!!! I once ran a 14.8 in a stock tib while the gearbox was stuck in 3 gear. Ofcourse the topspeed was limited because of the revlimiter cutting in, but I quickly fixed that by pulling the fuse from the ECU at the 300 meter mark. The car revved to 9000rpm, but a Honda S2000 can do that too, so I don't see why a Hyundai can't do that.....
