front speaker grills

be careful about painting them, since they dont come off the door.

in the LC accents this is true, i dont know about the x3

That sounds weird, any car I owned I had those stock grills removed. For 95-99 models, they come off...they're screwed on to the side door panel, I took them off from behind, and slapped some Infinity components with spacers. Cant believe how cheap they were by putting in 4 inch speakers that had this big ass housing thing just to fill the space instead of putting at least some 5 & 1/4ths in there. <img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
the L model X3 accent grills are held on by little metal arms that wrap around the hole in the door panel and must be taken off very carefully or you may rip the door panel. In all the higher model X3's (gs, gsi) they are screwed in and are accesed much easier. Good luck
Up here in Canada, the front grills seem to be a part of the actual door molding....at least in the 2k1 gsi's......looks like a pain in the butt to swap speakers. the rears were easy. took all of 20 minutes.
