Front Tire Removal Problems

2024 Views 10 Replies 8 Participants Last post by Rixshark
I just had my tires re-balanced and rotated on my 2001 tib a few days ago at a shop. I want to paint the calipers and clean up the wheel wells but can't seem to get the front tires off after removing all the lugs. Am I missing something? Is there some kind of a trick to removing the front tires? Can't believe that they'd be stuck on there now after a shop just had them off 3 days ago. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.

Just give them a little kick. They will come off.
I tried this but they still don't budge.
Kick them harder... They will come off.

Kick the top then bottom.
I kicked the bottom, the top and both sides...kicked the dang thing so hard I thought I was going to knock the car off the jack...these are frustrating the heck out of me. Just doesn't seem possible that they could get that stuck after just being removed on Friday afternoon and only being drivin home that day and to the store a few blocks away the next day for smokes.
What the heck is going on with these tires.
Thanks for the replies.
get a 2x4 and a sleg hammer and place the 2x4 at the top or bottom and hit it with the sleg. it will come off.cottonmouth is right, they should come off if you kick the bottom hard. you can kick and rotate the tire and kick it again. keep on kicking and rotating and they should come out. it sounds like when they tightened the rims on the car they kind of wedged it against the center hub
take a big flathead screwdriver and wedge it inbetween the hub and the mating surface of the wheel. hit the top of the driver with a hammer.
i dont trust shops putting even tires on. they are in too much of a hurry and put it on with an impact and then they get over torqued. This happend to my friend's celica and we nearly messed the lug up trying to get it off, and then the rim was stuck to the hub kinda like what happened to you. Honestly just keep hittin it
Get some good vibrations going and kick it off.
Get some liquid wrench spray. Spray where the wheel and the hub are together, let it sit for a bit, and then try kicking it again.

MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE LABEL FIRST SO IT WON'T EAT THE FINISH OFF THE WHEEL!!!
