I went to a friends shop (he is an experienced tuner, deals with rally cars and racing cars here in Peru). The point is, he's never tuned a Hyundai though they are very popular here.
He said he could build a full System (Headers, mid pipe, and what you call CAT BACK --we didn't have cat in 1996-- including performance muffler) for aprox. 380$.
We have very low cost of labor here. However, the material would be stainless steel, but I'd like to know what would be the right diameter of the pipe: 2" ; 2.25" ; 2.5" ??? I've read a lot, but I don't know if anybody has a brand exhaust System that can check out and tell me the size. I'd like to retain low end torque as much as possible.
TIA <img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

2.25" seems to be pretty much what everyone agrees on, and as far as low end torque goes, it moved the torque curve down 1,000rpms, so it does come in sooner than it did with the factory exhaust.

I would like to test a 2.5" exhaust on my car. I theorize that the car would have more top end, but would rob a little from the low end.

You mean 380 US dollar for full exhaust (heaer, catback and muffler)? So that means performance header should cost around $100-150. Right? I really need "cheap" 2.5" header for my Tiburon. Can you please ask him the price?
And where do you live?

Thanx

Nop. it's Perú Southamerica. I don't know how much it would be to send a Header to the States, but before thinking about anything, I'll try this exhaust. If it works, maybe I could ask him to build them for you.

<img src=/images/forums/snitz/uhh.gif width=15 height=15 border=0> Sorry I didn't catch you. I think there is a city named Peru in Indiana or something like that, so I thought you were refering to it. But when I read your last post, beleive me you were funny <img src=/images/forums/snitz/laugh.gif width=15 height=31 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/laugh.gif width=15 height=31 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/laugh.gif width=15 height=31 border=0>
