I use the Flash Blocker plugin http://flashblock.mozdev.org/ for firefox, it's ****ing great! Basically what it does is display a little flash icon for each of those, and you click it if you actually want to see it. One thing i've noticed is by using this, now my web browsers don't slow down the comp at all. Some of those flash ads hog up 100% of the cpu even when they're not on the screen.
