How much will the ride suffer going from the stock 15's to 17's without modifing the suspension? Got a great dal of wheels and tires but don't want the ride too bad.

I also have 17s with 40 series Yoko tires - rides perfect!... just learn to SLOW DOWN on bumps and especially potholes, these are the killers to your wheels.

Since you have the new gen elantra... try using 45 or 50 series tires I hear your wheel wells are bigger than my '98. Check with your Tire and Wheel dealer to be sure - shouldn't be a problem.

Going to 17s --- good idea!!! I am planning on getting those too. Make sure you get 205/45/R17 tires. The overall diameter will be the same as stock.

hey i agree i think you should go with the 17's you should also lower it a.s.a.p because its gonna look really high and that doesnt look good

my only problem with lowering it is the ride is bumpy as hell. I was thinking of an inch and a half drop since that shouldn't kill the ride too much. Still researching it though

going to 17's wont be a problem. im on 17" enkis w/ 205/40 yokos. the ride was good, but i cut the lowering springs so i lost some comfort but the 3" drop looks a lot tighter, my rims tuck now.

I went to Kumho Ecsta 205-45-17 with Kaizer K-2 Chrome wheels. I definitely noticed that the ride quality suffered. Looks great and handles great though. Question...How much to slam it and what is involved?

If you don't want to blow major cash on coilovers ($800-1500), then just get Eibach springs from SharkRacing. They sell 'em for cheap. Eibachs are good. I don't personally have them (trying to save for coilovers from KORE) but ask around. I've heard nothing but good comments about them.
