after 6 hours of hell, my headers are finally on. that was really frustrating, especially since most of the work was done at night in the cold. well anyway the car really pulls at low rpm's and the note is significantly louder. maybe i'll do a write up but not tonight. <img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

oh yea they are HVE 4-2-1 headers.

I own a 91' Hyundai Excel and so far I all I have is a K&N Filter and an Aerospeed exhaust. Does anyone know where I can get a header for my 1.5 liter engine?<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

those are the same headers i have on my car and i could never tell a difference in how loud they made my car till i put a pipe on to it...i have had people in complete amazement that a 1.5 could sound like that...and now that my motor is dead anyone wanna set???<img src=/images/forums/snitz/finger.gif width=33 height=15 border=0>

lol, beditone did yours make a whistle sound at all? i asked one person and they said they did but it wasn't as loud as i say mine is. i'm trying to figure out what this is, i'm guessing exhaust leak but i'm not completely sure yet. my car sounds like complete ass with that high pitched squealing noise. <img src=/images/forums/snitz/cry.gif width=16 height=16 border=0>

Thanks Rudy...I was told the 4-2-1 headers are really good for low end speed but not that noticeable at higher revs.

Hopefully it aint long before I get mine on! <img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0> Then following that I am looking at getting a better muffler...anyone got any suggestions?

hahaha...Yeah rudy mine did the same junk...give it gas and it sounds like it starts to squel or something...lol...anyways it goes away at night time on mine kinda like they seal up in the cooler weather cus i think they leak right at the block

mine squeal all the time, and it is obnoxously loud. i'm going to replace the rest of my exhaust system soon hopefully thats it. ai think it might partly be my arospeed muffler too so we will see.

Hmm, Squel... Thats screwed, Did you replace the gasket on header? Did it seem damaged at all? I can imagine that squel would drive you crazy. Lemme know how it works out.

i havn't gotten around to replacing the gaskets but hopefully next weekend.

i did replace my gaskets but with original Accent one's...it dampened the whistle a little but not completely if you want it gone completely you have to go with aftermarket gaskets that are thicker then the originals<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

you have any idea where i could pick up aftermarket gaskets? i was just going to get stock ones also. i was going to replace all the bolts too b/c they are all rusted.

umm...my friend was tellin' me about them so i started to look around and found them on one of these hyundai sites....maybe HVes page or one of those let me look around here and see what i can find cus i know they are out there somewhere
