i got a 2001 tiburon. currenty i have an exhaust.

i'm going to be putting on some headers and getting a new exhaust welded up.

i've got some questions about removing the stock headers.
the "performance" headers have no pre-cat. our cars do have a pre-cat and then another cat down stream, right?

how do i extend the wires for the 1st o2 sensor? any special wire that i need? shielded or not?

what have you guys done do get the headers to work correctly on your car?

sorry for the noob questions. i did a search and found that some say it will throw a CEL, it won't throw a CEL. just leave the o2 sensors unplug, etc.

is there a correct way this should be done?

It will throw a CEL if the O2 is too close to the second cat. Extend the wires enough to put the sensor 14" or so behind the cat, and you should be fine.

umm, but i asked what kind of wiring do i use.

shielded or not?

like i said, some have just welded another bung and no cat.
some leave the o2 sensors disconnected.

Some 16-gauge plastic-sheathed wire should be fine. And shrink insulators for the connections, and some heat-resistant plastic sheathing to protect the soldered joints from road grime and debris.

I think the wire used is a 22 awg teflon not "plastic sheathed"
