I just got my K&N filter today, it's RU-1480, it's tube shape, not cone style. One quick question, how do u install that in a 2k1 tiburon? any help, ideas? Please...

That black box near the battery. Pop open the clamps. Take the old one out and put the new one in. However, they may have sent you the wrong one. Usually those tube or cone shape ones are for the end of an aftermarket intake. As far as I can see from what you are telling me, this is one of those KN filterchargers. I mean, I have a 2000 Elantra, and the engines in both cars are the same, unless they changed the intake system. Mine is a rectangle shape.

Nope, U R Screwed. The only thing you can do with that filter is remove the stock airbox alltogether and mount that filter directly to the MAF. This sucks in HOT engine compartment air. Your car will sound really good, but it won't make any more power.

Or try fabricating your old CAI... PVC piping can be used to make an intake that, at least on my Accent, will suck in cooler air from down near the front of the engine compartment, to one side of the radiator.
It may look like hell, but it's cheap and will let you use the K&N.
Give it a shot...<img src=/images/forums/snitz/cool.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

search for a topic on the "Random Special"

Random built a CAI out of exhaust flex pipe wrapped in thermal heat wrap. I built one and it works great. I would recomend you search on TEAMSR.ORG
