Does any one know how easy it is to replace the HLA's. My engine is making this clacking noise in the engine bay and i dont want to have to spent to much to replace them.

Run a flushing oil in your engine for a few minutes and then change the oil and filter.

HLA's are NOT easy to replace, but it can be done.

You are better off to run "motor flush" through your engine at your next oil change, then start doing that every 3000 miles for the next 3-4 oil changes.

That fixes about 90% of HLA noise problems. If it doesn't..THEN think about having your DEALER replace the HLA's under warranty.

Well i went to the dealership so they could find out what the problem wa and they told me that it could be a loose piston or if not my cam chain timing tensioner?

What should i do?

You should pray that it is covered by your warranty, and if they say it is not, you should take it to another dealership or an independent garage and not tell them what the first one said, and ask their opinion.

What should you do? Take it to the dealer and have them fix it!

Both of those repairs should be covered by the stock warranty.

What exactly is happening when the HLA's start to malfunction? From webtech, the check is to see if it moves freely when the bottom hole is plugged.

Is it because an internal portion of the HLA is not seating properly due to varnish or some other deposit?
